This week, TGIF has an inspiration challenge. I created flowers in sunset colors, and used a circular, Scalloped Blooms Die to represent the ferris wheel. We’d love to see what you create, using this beautiful sunset as inspiration.

I began with a background of Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, embossed with the Lazy Daisy Embossing Folder. This layer was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Sunset Flowers
Next, I used a Boutique Blossoms Die to cut 15 flowers from Garden Poetry Designer Paper. This paper has the perfect colors for a red, purple, and gold sunset. After cutting, I used a Bone Folder to curl them, and attached them to the card front with Mini Dimensionals.

I stamped “happy birthday,” from the Cutest Crew Stamp Set, in Blackberry Bliss Ink on Basic White Cardstock. After cutting with a Scalloped Blooms Die, I attached the sentiment with Dimensionals. I couldn’t complete the card without adding four Sunset Sparkle Sequins.

This week’s TGIF Challenge is a sketch. We’d love to see how you use the sketch, and hope that you’ll play along with us. Please tag your creation #tgifc581. You could be a winner!

I began by cutting one of the beautiful patterns of Valley In Bloom Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″. Then, I used a Stylish Shapes circle die to cut the middle from the designer paper. The 4″ X 5 1/4″ piece, with the hole in the middle, was glued to a Blackberry Bliss card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Blackberry Bliss might look like black in the photo, but it’s a deep, rich purple.

Valley In Bloom
Next, I stamped “Happy Birthday” in Blackberry Bliss Ink on Valley in Bloom Designer Paper, and used a Stylish Shapes Die for cutting. The sentiment is in the Lily Of The Valley Stamp Set. After layering the sentiment label and circle on cardstock for thickness, I attached them to the card front with Dimensionals.

This card was so simple to do, I tried making it more complicated, but decided “less is more,” and just added three, Sunset Sparkle Sequins.

Product of the Month ($5.00 with a $75.00 order).

This week’s TGIF Challenge is “color,” using Smoky Slate, Night Of Navy, and Granny Apple Green. I can’t wait to see how YOU use the colors. Please join our challenge, and tag your entry #tgifc580.

I thought the colors would be nice on a sympathy card.

Boutique Blossoms Sympathy
The first thing I did was cut Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″ with the Eyelet Blooms Die. This was glued to a Smoky Slate card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. After I created my card, I saw that the Eyelet Blooms Die has sold out. This is going to happen to Products of the Month, so if you like this month’s, Wild Bunch Stamp Set, don’t wait to order. You can see it below.

Next, I stamped flowers, from the Boutique Blossoms Stamp Set, in Night Of Navy Ink on Basic White Cardstock. I stamped the “outline” stamp first, and stamped the “coloring” stamp second. Then, I used the Boutique Blossoms Dies for cutting. Before attaching the flowers to the card front, I cut leaves from Granny Apple Green Cardstock with a Boutique Blossoms Die, and glued them in place.

The sentiment, “so sorry for your loss,” is from the Promises & Prayers Stamp Set. I stamped it in Night Of Navy Ink, used a Scalloped Blooms Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.

I’m so excited to share that I’ve been asked to join the TGIF Challenge Design Team! I love designing cards that inspire you to get your products out, and start crafting. It’s fun having the challenge as a parameter for a starting point. This week’s theme challenge is “for a special guy.” Are you thinking Father’s Day? I am! Plus, my husband’s birthday is in June. Clicking on this picture will take you to the TGIFC site where you can enter your project.

The new, Waterside Retreat Suite is perfect for the men in our lives; the subject, the sentiments, and the colors! I began my design by cutting a cabin scene from Waterside Retreat Designer Paper with a Spotlight on Nature Die, and backed it with Cardstock for thickness.

Father’s Day Retreat
Next, I cut a background of horizontal striped, Waterside Retreat Designer Paper, 3 5/8″ X 4 7/8″, and layered it on Old Olive Cardstock, 3 3/4″ X 5″. Then, I used a Spotlight On Nature Die to cut a circle in the striped paper. After gluing the striped background to a Peaceful Pine card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, I glued the cabin scene in the hole, making it “inlaid.”

“Happy Father’s Day” is from the Relaxing Waterside Stamp Set. I stamped it in Pecan Pie Ink on Waterside Retreat Designer Paper, used a Words & Wishes Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals. The oar and fish were fussy cut from the Waterside Retreat DSP, and the reeds were cut with a Relaxing Waterside Die from three colors of cardstock: Peaceful Pine, Old Olive, and Pecan Pie.

The Paradise Garden Hybrid Embossing Folder is so much fun to use! It’s a “hybrid,” because it does the embossing and cutting at the same time. First, I matched the die to the embossing folder; you can feel when it clicks into place. Then, I added green, Valley In Bloom Designer Paper, 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″, to the folder, and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. After lifting the cut leaves, I glued this to a Garden Green card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Paradise Garden Hybrid Embossing
Next, I stamped seven flowers from the Paradise Garden Stamp Set in three colors on Basic White Cardstock: Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo, and Strawberry Slush. Then, I glued two flowers, and attached five flowers with Dimensionals.

“Thank You” is from the Paradise Garden Stamp Set. I stamped it in VersaMark on Valley In Bloom DSP, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder, set it with the Heat Too, and used a Paradise Garden Die for cutting. It was placed across the center of the card with Dimensionals. As a final detail, I added five Iridescent Pearls.

I’m sharing with this week’s TGIF challenge.

Color challenges are great for inspiration! This week’s TGIF challenge uses three colors: Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake, and Melon Mambo.

I was excited to use the new bundle, Lily Of The Valley, and began by stamping lilies from the stamp set in Crumb Cake Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used a Blender Pen with Coastal Cabana Ink to color the flowers. After coloring, I used a Lily Of The Valley Die for cutting.

Lily Of The Valley color challenge
The background is Basic White Cardstock, 3 1/2″ X 4 3/4″, embossed with the Floral Spray Embossing Folder. I layered it on Valley In Bloom Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″, layered on a Melon Mambo card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “to a forever kind of friend,” is from the Lily Of The Valley Stamp Set. I stamped it in Crumb Cake Ink, used a Stylish Shapes Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals. After gluing the lilies, and embellishing with gems, my card was complete.
