You’ll still be able to find the Free As A Bird Stamp Set in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog, but the Bird Ballad Designer Paper is a “Last-Chance” item. The entire list of “Last-Chance” products can be seen by following a link at the bottom of this post.

Angled Fun
I have to start off by saying, I was inspired, and challenged, by CAS(E) this sketch. After seeing the designer’s projects, I wasn’t sure how they accomplished it, but I’ll tell you how I did.
Starting with a piece of 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ Whisper White Cardstock, I layed the two patterns of Bird Ballad DSP on top, creating the angles. Then, holding each one at a time, I trimmed them about 1/4″ larger than the cardstock. After gluing them in place, close to the edge without going over, I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting. There may be a more scientific way to do this, but this is how I managed. LOL
Next, I ran the entire piece through the embossing machine, using the Subtle Textured Embossing Folder, and glued it to a Thick Whisper White card base.
Once I had my angles, I cut the sweet bird from another piece of Bird Balls DSP with an Ornate Frames Die. Then, I cut a second frame from Whisper White Cardstock, removed the center with a die from the set, glued the white frame on top, and raised it on Dimensionals.
“Thank you” is from the Free AS A Bird Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. The bow is Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, which is easy to tie, even for me.
Now for exciting news!
First of all, this month’s Host Code gift is something I know you’ll want in your collection. It’s the new, fabulous, Ornate Floral Embossing Folder! I’ve already used it on a number of my cards, and it adds gorgeous texture. Just add my Host Code (DGMYPXET) in the box provided when you order a minimum of $50.00 in the month of May, and I will send the embossing folder to you in June.
Secondly, I’m having a drawing for two items: the Thoughtful Blooms Stamp Set AND the Small Bloom Punch. Your name will be entered in the drawing when you place a minimum $100.00 order in May.
This is Stampin’ Up’s list of retiring items, so click here, then click on “Last-Chance Products” in my store. Order those bundles now while you get the 10% savings, and earn the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder from me, plus a chance to win the Small Bloom Punch and Thoughtful Blooms Stamp Set.
Last, but not least, if you are a customer of mine, you will be receiving the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog sometime in May, with ordering beginning June 3rd. The catalog happens to have a brand new stamp set (page 48) that coordinates with the Small Bloom Punch!
Thanks so much for stopping by. My birthday is in May, so I’m especially happy to have you celebrating with me.

Hi Pat,
I think the general rule is that the sketch should be recognizable. Then, you have “artistic license” to make it your own. Have fun with your group of ladies. Sketches are very inspirational!
Hi Sue beautiful card, as always. But I have a question…a group of ladies and I have started doing a sketch challenge once a week….none of us ever did sketches before. Just wondering… What are the rules? I see you put 2 ornate frames on the card but they aren’t on the sketch? So we’re wondering, are you supposed to follow the sketch as is or can you add or change things? Thanks for your input!
