I’ve been busy working on posts for Blog Hops, but wanted to enter two challenges, so combined my efforts. This is the result:

Wood Bloomin’ Heart for Valentine’s Day
Looking at my choices at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge, I adore wood, so that was my starting point.
I used the Bloomin’ Heart die to cut a fancy (Vintage, in my opinion) heart from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. I layered it three times for thickness. This ended up being the most time consuming part of the project.
Happy with my wood heart, I wanted to use ideas from Krista’s beautiful design at Global Design Projects.
I liked her wide border of white, so I chose a Thick Whisper White card base, planning to layer it with a piece of watercolor paper. I first watercolored the paper with Marina Mist Ink to add the touch of blue, and cut it with a retired, Project Life die. You could use a rectangle, 3 1/4″ X 4 1/2″, but I wanted rounded corners. Stampin’ Up’s watercolor paper is nice and thick, so does a good job of holding up the wood heart when placed on Adhesive Strips.
Before gluing the heart to the watercolor paper, I added some loops of Gold Thread beneath it. And, for a touch more gold, I die cut an arrow (retired Love Notes) from Gold Foil.
I stamped the tiny sentiment “You’re out of this world!” (retired Shooting Star) in Chocolate Chip Ink on watercolor paper, punched it out, and tucked it at the bottom.
No doubt, this is a Holiday card. Valentine’s Day is high on my list!
I’m so honored to have my card chosen as a Tic Tac Toe “Team Pick.” Thank you, designers!
