I think I’m in love with my Stampin’ Blends by Stampin’ Up! I can’t stop looking at them!
Su Mohr’s Stampin’ Blends
I ordered the first half of the colors as soon as they were available. They were held neatly in a box, laying horizontally, as directed. But, when I received my second shipment, I wanted to be able to have them easily accessible.

The colors are listed in the Annual Catalog on page 205. You can order them individually, or they come in combo packs of a Light and Dark in each color.
Additionally, there are fantastic colors in the Holiday 2018 Catalog! I almost overlooked some, because they are spread throughout the pages.
Not only do I like looking at my Stampin’ Blends, they are my “go to” for coloring.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I keep them in my craft room. I’m very happy with my storage solution.

I always enjoy thinking about the beach. I returned from Hawaii two weeks ago, and told you more photos would be coming. Here I am with my daughter, Katey, out in the ocean. We are 500 steps from the shore (I counted on the way back), and still only knee deep, because it’s a sandbar.
Did I show you my grandson, Drake? He’s only 13, and making Grandma Su look really small. We are walking home from church. They live on Hickam Base, close to Pear Harbor, because Billy is in the Coast Guard. Everything is so convenient. It’s wonderful!

Okay, back to my card. It all began, because of three challenges. The theme at Global Design Project is “Take Me to the Sea.”
The sketch is from As You See It.
And, the colors at Sunday Stamps, “Summer Splash,” are perfect for a day at the beach.
The card base is Night of Navy card stock, the ocean is Pacific Point cardstock, and the sand is Sahara Sand cardstock.
I used the Ruffled embossing folder to give the ocean waves, and the Subtle embossing folder to give the sand texture. Before embossing the sand, I used a stamp from the Magical Mermaid stamp set to stamp shells in Crumb Cake ink.
Don’t you love my canvas chair? It’s in the Colorful Seasons stamp set. The wood frame is stamped in Crumb Cake ink, and the fabric is Pumpkin Pie ink. It’s “two-step” stamping, and I used the Stamparatus to make sure the fabric met the frame just right.
The glass of lemonade is stamped in Daffodil Delight ink, and it has a die for cutting in the Seasonal Layers die set.
Did you see I wrote “hello” in the sand. Sometimes I just have to use something that has retired. I LOVE paper words! It’s from the Greetings die set, for those of you who may have it.

Yesterday was my birthday, marking the number of days I’ve been on this earth. It was also the first anniversary of my blog, Aromas and Art. I just looked, and I’ve published 299 posts. Whew, that’s a lot! I’m so thankful to you, my readers and followers, because it thrills me to be able to share with you. As long as you keep visiting, I’ll keep it up on my end.

Today’s post is from the Serene Garden Bundle. I fell in love with this set when I first saw it in the new catalog, page 166. I’ve already used it for two Blog Hops that will be coming up in June, and todays project is for the Paper Players challenge. The challenge this week is for the project to be “clean & simple” with “blooms.” Clean & simple means lots of open space with minimal layers and embellishment. And, blooms means flowers, of course.
I couldn’t wait to use the graceful bloom from the Serene Garden Stamp Set. The flower and stem are one stamp, which I stamped in Versamark, then stamped three times on Thick Whisper White cardstock. Then, I sprinkled White Embossing Powder over the images, and let the heat tool do its work.

The three ink colors I used for the flowers are Flirty Flamingo, Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight. The white embossed lines provided the guide for my Aqua Painter. TIP: Be careful with the amount of water on this Thick WW cardstock. Probably should use Shimmery White, which reacts better to water.
Here you can see the nice, shiny lines of the heat embossing. Keeping my card “clean and simple,” I chose a small sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings, and stamped it in Basic Black. I used the Stamparatus to ensure it stamped perfectly.
The Serene Garden Die Set has several dies for embossing. Stampin’ Up! also has new Big Shot Embossing Mats, which I wanted to try. It takes some experimenting to find the right combo, but I really like the results on this envelope flap.
I like to think there is a little prayer tucked inside each blossom, floating its way to you.
I haven’t had an opportunity to use my colored dimensionals with vellum again, but I will!
Yesterday’s excitement at the tennis tournament was watching an up and coming tennis player, named Evan King. He is ranked around 200 in the world, and this was his first break through into a major tournament by winning this qualifying match. He was so much fun to watch, and my husband caught a signed tennis ball he hit into the stands. It has become a tradition for for winning player to hit three signed balls to the cheering crowd. Sometimes, you can even have a photo taken with the players.
I’m having a great time on vacation, even though I’m missing my craft room. This isn’t a card front, but it’s a great piece of art:

When I’m not at the tennis tournament, I spend some time on the Bermuda Dunes Golf Course. A little bit of golfing, and more picture taking. The turtles are so cute!
Thinking about turtles, I want to share a card I made last August.
Since moving to Oahu, my daughter and grandson have become volunteers to educate the public about sea turtles. And, if you read the previous blog, I did wait until a week ago to send his card.
