A little old, and a little new for this masculine Valentine’s Day card. I got my husband’s opinion on this one, and he especially liked it. This photo has sunshine casting shadows, and showing depth, which I think is neat.

Once again, I relied on the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper for the “wow” factor in the die cut heart. I found the swirly vines in the Beautiful Peacock stamp set (tail feathers), and thought they would fit the shape of the heart. Happy dance when they did! I stamped them in Basic Black ink, deciding to stick with just three colors for the finished project.
The card base is Tip Top Taupe, because this shade of brown matched the heart perfectly. Tip Top Taupe is considered “old,” as is the Real Red DSP (last year’s Valentine DSP) that I embossed with the Quilt Top embossing folder. The embossing folder has not gone into retirement yet, yay! I love the way it turns paper into fabric. Don’t you?
I glued the Real Red “fabric” to a Basic Black cardstock layer that would tie in with the color of the Beautiful Peacock tail feathers and the sentiment.

The sentiment, “Sure Do Love You” is from the stamp set of that same name, and has a die to cut the banner. I really like the simplicity of this card, and I know at least one man does also. This photo is without the sun.

Sure Do Love You Wood Textures
Thanks for stopping by my blog on this second day of the year. New beginnings are exciting!

Party Panda (Sale-A-Bration FREE stamp set) is flying high above the trees to send a message to his Valentine. He was able to whip up this quick and easy Valentine in minutes!

Party Panda Makes Quick and Easy Valentine
This is just one of the three adorable pandas in the Sale-A-Bration set you are able to earn for FREE, starting January 3rd.
He is flying high above the trees made with the Leaf Punch. This punch was so popular from the Holiday Catalog, it is being carried over into the new year. YAY! It is so much fun to use, and you can still order it.

Panda is holding tight to the giant heart balloon. The sentiment from the Sure Do Love You stamp set is stamped in Real Red, and die cut with a heart shape from the Lots to Love Box die set.
Panda chose the color Pool Party for the sky, which is the card base. He popped up the balloon on dimensionals to complete his quick and easy Valentines Day card. I like the idea of being a Valentine every single day of the year!

Panda should have written “Happy New Year” on his balloon. I wish you all a fabulous year!

I can’t stop working with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper! By layering several pieces of cardstock beneath the DSP, it has the thickness, look and feel of real wood.

Wood Textures Slatted Heart
I began by die cutting a heart from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, which I sawed into four pieces. I cut more hearts from cardstock (retired Tip Top Taupe), cut these the same size, and glued them together.
I made a vine from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (Petals & More die set) to grow between the slats. TIP: Not only does it sparkle, but it has flexibility that makes for easier weaving. I started with the left side of the heart, adhering with dimensionals. Next, the tip of the vine with a tiny bit of glue. The next slat has dimensionals which hold the vine in place. The vine has a bit of glue on the third slat, and the end below the heart.
Thick Whisper White is the card base to support the heart. A sheet of Powder Pink dots from Whole Lot of Lovely DSP is the resting place for my heart. For added interest, I bordered it with striped, Crumb Cake DSP.

The sentiment “From The Heart” fits perfectly in the Bunch of Banners die cut with its Wood Textures frame. It is stamped in Chocolate Chip from the stamp set of the same name, From the Heart.
There was just enough room to add a little Enamel Shapes heart.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I wish everyone a happy, safe New Year’s Eve celebration.

Peetie and Tweetie, fussy cut from the Bird Banter stamp set, wanted to help hang up the Wood Texture numbers to bring in the new year.

2018 Stampin’ Up! Large Numbers and Tutti-Frutti Pineapples
I used Wood Textures Designer Series Paper to cut “2018” using the Large Numbers die set, and doubled them for thickness. In case you are wondering, Peetie is sitting on the zero. It was his idea to hang the letters (string ties are from the At Home With You stamp set), like his friend did on a previous project.
Here is the one Peetie liked:
The Christmas Bird Named Noel
We were looking through the Tutti-Frutti DSP for a colorful backdrop when we saw a wonderful print with pineapples on it. I’ve been thinking about pineapples since we recently had our palm tree trimmed, and friends were remarking that it looked like a carrot or a skinny pineapple.

So, I did a little research, and Siri told me that the Chinese word for Pineapple is “ong-lai,” which means “fortune cones.” This paper seemed perfect for a Happy New Year card. And, the Ticket Tear Punch even has a pineapple feel about it.

Peetie was colored with Stampin’ Blends in Light and Dark Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Dark Calypso Coral. These alcohol pens make coloring so much fun!

Are you wanting to know where Tweetie is? She was busy writing the sentiment inside. It’s from a retired stamp set, Balloon Adventures, but she insisted it was the right thing to say.

Peetie and Tweetie wanted to wish everyone at the Global Design Project a Happy New Year, so I said I would post it for them.
I agree, it’s the perfect sentiment, wishing you all “another year full of adventures.”

Let me introduce you to my Love Tree:

Stampin’ Up! Love Tree by Su Mohr
It’s a beautiful tree (Petal Palette stamp set) the color of Pear Pizzazz in a lovely garden of Whisper White. Blushing Bride heart buds hang from the branches (Tiny Heart punch, and Burlap background stamp made the pattern).
Tiny, white heart blossoms (Bottles & Bubbles die set) are floating through the air.
Delicate, white sprigs lay on the ground (Petals & More die set), and you can see “love” (Lovely Words die set, cropped from “lovely”) coming up from the surface.

I invite you to come and spend some time in my garden under the Love Tree. Let the hearts fall upon you, and feel the love.

The Hold on to Hope stamp set in the Occasions 2018 catalog is going to inspire many cards for Easter. I couldn’t wait to try making a piece of jewelry from the largest die in the Cross of Hope die set.
The intricately cut die of the cross is so beautiful, it looks like a piece of jewelry.

Hold on to Hope Jewelry Cross
I felt like a jeweler as I was die cutting the cross from Champagne Foil. The inlaid diamonds were created with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, and the cross is hanging on a ribbon of Copper.

I chose Crumb Cake cardstock for the card base, and thought this beautiful cross deserved a special setting. So, I raised a top layer on Adhesive Strips, making it sturdy with Thick Whisper White beneath it, leaving a tiny border of white for brightness. I used the Wood Grain embossing folder for added texture.
Prior to adhering this layer, I cut an oval where the cross would rest, and stamped a ray with Versamark from the Amazing You stamp set. At the same time I was heat embossing the ray with Copper Powder, I heat embossed the sentiment from the Hold on to Hope stamp set. The die from the Petals & More set was the perfect size to hold the sentiment.

I continued with the Copper embossing powder for the inside sentiment, also from the Hold on to Hope stamp set.

And, a final look at my completed piece of jewelry.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Have a wonderful day!
