Little Chick

I began by stamping the cute, little, chick in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I cut him from the paper, and colored him with Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends, and Pumpkin Pie for his beak.

I love the new Stitched With Whimsy Dies, and thought it would make a good frame for my chick. By using a Layering Squares Die (2 1/4″ X 2 1/4″) to cut the Basic White Cardstock, I didn’t even have to measure.

After cutting, I used Pool Party Ink with a Blending Brush to add a little color.

The band across the middle was made with 6X6 Subtles Designer Paper in a Pool Party dot, cut with an Ornate Layers Die, and again, no measuring. I backed it with black & white True Love Designer Paper to give it a 1/16″ border at the top and bottom.

The background is Fine Art Floral Designer Paper in a Pool Party, brushstroke pattern, 4″ X 5 1/4″. Before gluing it to the Pool Party card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, I stamped the sentiment. 

“Wishing you the blessings of…” is from the Gift Of Hope Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink.

To complete the sentiment, I used a Word Wishes Die to cut the word “Easter” from Pool Party Cardstock. I doubled it for thickness, and glued it to the card front.

The card was complete, after adding a few Woven Threads Sequins to the chick’s square.
