I just had to title today’s card with an idiom, “Designer Paper Takes The Cake.” This new, 2019-2020, Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper is gorgeous, and would be fabulous paired with anything, but today it’s paired with a cake.

hooray
While I was dreaming of ways to show off my new DSP, I found this week’s CAS(E) this sketch for my layout.
I’m also playing along with TGIF’s “paper flowers” challenge.
First, I made a frame, using a Rectangle Stitched die to cut the center from a 4″ X 5 1/4″ piece of Perennial Essence DSP. I backed the frame with Petal Pink dots from the Subtles 6X6 DSP pack, and glued this to a Petal Pink card base.
Next, I cut the cake and cake stand from Thick Whisper White cardstock and Gold Foil, using the Cake Builder Punch.
The cake was stamped in Petal Pink ink, and decorated with a Light Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend. I gave the cake stand some texture with the Subtle Textuembossing folder.
The two, large, flowers were cut from another pattern of the Perennial Essence DSP, using a Frosted Bouquet die.
“Hooray” is from the Well Written die set, which I cut from Gold Foil to match the cake stand. This could be a wedding card, or a birthday card, and “hooray” fits both occasions. Why don’t we call it a birthday card, because today is May 21st, and it happens to be my birthday!
Thank you for stopping by today. Keep scrolling to see the supplies for today’s card in my Product List. The Perennial Essence DSP will be available June 4th, while everything else is available right now. I forgot to list the Frosted Bouquet die set; it is number 147895. Have fun shopping!

Beautiful, as always.

Oh by the way, your card is beautiful!
Gorgeous card. Love the texture on the cake stand. Enjoy your birthday! May birthdays are the best. (mine’s tomorrow)
You are so clever to use that die with the Perennial Essance DSP!!! Love this idea!
Happy Birthday, Su! I hope that you had a wonderful birthday! I love your card! The DSP is beautiful! I will have to get that in June!
Well happy birthday wishes Su – hope you have a fabulous day! I have been on the fence about these papers, as I’m not sure what to use them with but this card pairs them with the cake beautifully. I didn’t realise there was a framelit/DSP co-ordination either – today you are a mine of information and inspiration!
“gorgeous” card! thanks, Rita
Happy Birthday, Su! Beautiful card! Have a fabulous day!!
