I’ve been wanting to make a “happy birthday to you” card with “HB2U,” so today is the day, with some changes!

Because I’m committed to using current, Stampin’ Up! product, my lettering is from the Hand-Lettered Prose Die Set, and I’m using small letters, along with “to” instead of numeral “2.”

happy birthday to you (h-b-to-u)

The card base is Thick Whisper White Cardstock, as well as the next layer, which is cut with the largest, Rectangles Stitched Die.

The next layer is hexagon patterned, See A Silhouette DSP, cut with the third largest Rectangles Stitched Die.

Here’s where the “partial eclipse” comes into play. I used an identical piece of DSP to cut the letters, so they would match the pattern, and “disappear.” I could have used the same piece of DSP, but realized the squares were a bit too small to cover the “cut-outs.” Oops!

I triple layered the letters with Thick Whisper White Cardstock, so they would have nice dimension.

TIP: Refer to the catalog for identifying the letters. It can be tricky when you first start using them.

I’m calling it a “partial eclipse,” because I made frames with a Stitched Shapes Die and Layering Squares Die, for the “h-b-to.”

This week’s Freshly Made Sketches was my inspiration, and definitely a challenge.

I made it more difficult than it had to be, but a fun process. It’s funny that this is one of my shortest Product Lists! This is a great sketch, and I’m already thinking of other ways to use it. Have a wonderful day!
