The rain boots from Under My Umbrella were begging for a pattern, or two, or five. After experimenting a bit, I knew that the paper piecing technique could work perfectly.

Patterned Rain Boots
First, I stamped the boots in Memento Black Ink on a strip of Whisper White Cardstock, 5 1/4″ X 1 1/2″.
TIP: I used the Stamparatus, leaving the boot stamp on the lid, moving the lid down on the hinges, which gives a straight line with perfect spacing. Also, I trimmed the cardstock to 1 1/2″ after stamping, leaving it wider to accommodate the magnet needed to hold it in place.
Once I had my strip of stamped rain boots, I stamped them again on each of the five patterns of Ornate Garden Designer Paper. Then, using my Paper Snips, I cut along the black lines of the rain boots. This is called paper piecing, and it was so much fun gluing the patterned paper to the white boots! Don’t you love the Ornate Garden DSP?
After completing my rain boots, I backed them with a 1/16th” border of Daffodil Delight Cardstock. The background is a Thick Whisper White card base, embossed with the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder.
The sentiment is from two stamps sets, stamped in Memento Black Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die.
“From all of us” is from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set, and “Happy Birthday” is from the Well Said Stamp Set. The font is wonderful; I wish my handwriting was like that!
I just had to add three Daffodil Delight Enamel Dots, even though they are retired. If you are a customer, contact me, and I’ll send you some.
I am playing along with the Paper Players Tic Tac Toe challenge: patterned paper-birthday-flowers.
The Ornate Garden items are from Stampin’ Up’s 2020-2021 “early release” suite, which are available as of April 1.
The Coastal Weave Embossing Folder is my Host Code gift for April. When you place a $50.00 minimum order in April, I will send you the embossing folder in May. Don’t forget to type my Host Code ( JQT3MUZN ) in the box provided.
