I’d be willing to bet that most men like wood. They seem to like wood furniture, wood colors, walking in the woods. Why not wood paper? I was delighted to see that Stampin’ Up has Wood Textures Designer Series paper that looks like real wood. This would be the beginning for today’s masculine birthday card.

I ran this DSP through the Big Shot using the Pinewood Planks Dynamic embossing folder to give it an even more realistic feel. The Ticket Tear Border Punch was used, top and bottom to add interest, before tacking it to a layer of Very Vanilla with Metallic “nails.” Everyone needs to hear the “Happy Birthday” song on their birthday, so I triple layered this sentiment using the thinlit die. The top layer was stamped with the Sheet Music stamp using Night of Navy ink on Very Vanilla, middle layer was Night of Navy for shadowing, and bottom was Very Vanilla for lifting. Accidentally, the lines of the sheet music mimicked the horizontal lines in the wood. I love it when that happens! So, I added more horizontal lines with baker’s twine, and tied on the last two words of the song using the Classic Label Punch.

P.S. I like wood too!

Beautiful card! I especially like the DSP textured with the Wood emboss folder.

I like this one a lot, too! Love the mix of the music paper with the wood BG. It’s like a song in a card.
