The Splendid Stems Dies, in the Splendid Day Suite, are perfect for the “inlaid technique.” This plant would be pretty in any color combination. I used the die to cut the plant in six colors of cardstock: Old Olive, Mint Macaron, Granny Apple Green, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Succulent, and Thick Basic White Cardstock. It was so much fun filling the white “frame” with the colored cardstock!

Inlaid Splendid Stem

Prior to gluing, I prepared the background, layering Splendid Day Designer Paper (4″ X 5 1/4″) on a Thick Basic White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″). 

After deciding where I would place the potted plant, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink. “Thanks” is from the Simply Succulents Stamp Set. 

The pot for the plant was created with Basic White Cardstock, cut with another Splendid Stems Die, and embossed with the Hive Embossing Folder.
