Life isn’t easy, and “boo boos” happen! I could tell you this Case this Sketch #230 was easy, but that would be far from the truth. First of all, I started this project late at night, I was tired, yet determined to replicate the sketch.
This happened:
With perseverance, I was able to accomplish my goal before going to bed. The Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper is beautiful, and I was able to choose three different prints, which I layered on Tranquil Tide. I raised the three rectangles on Foam Adhesive Strips and attached them to a Pool Party card base. Completing the card would have to wait for morning.
After much experimentation, I decided to use Celebration Time, because the cake fit perfectly in the upper right rectangle. The final step was to stamp “Time to Celebrate” on the bottom rectangle.
And, this happened:
It’s times like this when you need to get most creative. My disapointment was overcome when discovering that this sentiment fit perfectly in the Pretty Label Punch. Whew, project completed!
And, the moral is: 1) Don’t create when tired 2) Don’t force something when your gut tells you otherwise 3) Do make the best of a bad situation 4) Do forgive yourself.
Thanks for sticking with me on this one!
Oh, yes, this DOES happen! Thanks for sharing, Su! It all ended beautifully!
Thanks Patti! Nice to know we’ve all been there!
Way to conquer! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks Denise! May we always conquer!
Wonderful take on the sketch!
Thank you Leigh!
We’ve definitely all been there and done that. It’s important to pay attention to these life’s little lessons but in case we didn’t they will be back around our way again. I admire your perseverance and your end result came out wonderful. I like to flog my boo boos into bigger and bigger mistakes until they are absolutely horrendous. Then I mail them to my friend to her a smile. It’s been awhile since I’d done that (mailed, not made boo boos).
That is so funny that you mail your horrendous cards to your friend. Thanks for the laugh, Judy!
love the whole process and have made it work for me also. I’m working on a project right now and incidentals are becoming part of the process and project.
Thanks Tracey, may we all embrace our “incidentals.”
There are no mistakes in crafting. Just a lesson in another way to do it.
Thanks for the comment Teresa, and I agree!
I agree with Linda. The framing of the label and popping it up gives the sentiment the extra attention it deserves. I also love this DSP. So, so pretty!
Thanks Debra! I appreciate your thoughtful comments.
I, too, love the fact that you shared the “boo boo’s”, and I honestly love the final sentiment placement more than the plain stamping on the DSP. The card is gorgeous–thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks Linda! I like the “cover-up” better also. Thanks for saying so. Just shows we need to embrace our mistakes.
I thought there were no mistakes in crafting, just opportunity to change what was begun. Your final results were stunning.
I kept thinking how could you still use what you started.
Thanks for sharing your journey on making this “mistake” turn into a triumph
Thanks for your thoughtful comments, Dianne!
I love that you took pictures of “boo, boos”. Too often our customers think they can’t do it, because they only see perfection in samples. Let’s get real, and reveal the truth of what it takes to get there.
Thanks Cathy! I appreciate your validation. I had to dig the torn piece out of the trash for the photo. LOL
I am in love with this, Su! But I understand making something while you’re so tired you almost can’t think. It’s always best to start fresh, right? I’m so glad this card came out as great as it did…I wouldn’t have been able to tell you were exhausted…LOL.
Hugs!
If you had been here, you would have seen my exhaustion. Thanks for the hugs, Sharon.
I love this post, Su, because now I know these things happen to other people as well! I have often had to “sleep on it” before something I’m happy with gets completed. Funny how a fresh day can bring a whole new perspective! And your card turned out beautifully!
Thanks Karen! Yes, it’s nice knowing we are all “in the same boat.”
