Welcome to the Pals December 2017 Blog Hop featuring “All that Sparkles and Shines.” Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
I HAD to use my favorite bundle from the new Occasions catalog for this month’s Pals Blog Hop. It’s the Petal Palette Bundle on pages 22 and 23 of the catalog. I love the black and white Designer Series Paper that goes with the collection, but I’ll go a different direction to make this project “sparkle and shine.”

Occasions 2018 Petal Palette for Pals Blog Hop
The precious bird is the first thing that captured my eye at OnStage in November. I was very pleased to see how pretty she looks with shiny, copper, heat embossed feathers.
The Petal Palette Stamp Set also has a wonderful, long, stamp with irregular dots, which I stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Copper Powder, same as the bird. I used a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock, because I planned to die cut an oval in the middle, and place it on Foam Adhesive strips for dimension.
Behind the oval is a piece of Regular Whisper White cardstock embossed with one of the narrow folders from Petal Pair. You can see the other embossing folder on the envelope flap, which I painted with Wink of Stella for added shine.
Now, let’s talk about the fabulous, delicate, sparkly, die cut branch. Remember the wonderful Sale-A-Bration Glimmer Paper that sold out last year? Well, it’s baaaack! If I hadn’t been at OnStage to hear about it (with the screaming) I would have missed it in the catalog. It’s on page 37, with the Magical Day Bundle, and comes in three colors: iridescent, light green and turquoise.
I used last year’s green, but other colors would work just as well. I triple layered the branch for sturdiness, glued the tips, and reinforced the bird with dimensionals.
The stamp set has a number of great sentiments that all fit within this die cut frame. I chose “I Just Love You,” popped it up on dimensionals, and added a Metallic Shapes heart as the last “shiny” detail.

Such a beautiful card – I really love this!!!
Beautiful card. Thanks for sharing.
Su – love your card and bird! I never think of embossing the envelope flap – thanks for the beautiful reminder.
What a sweet card Su. I haven’t had a chance to play with mine yet but it’s the first bundle I had to have.
Thank you Rae! I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with it!
Oh Sue, This card is fabuloso. I love the embossing on the envelope flap too! I may have to rethink that embossing folder set.
Thank you Ann! It’s hard for me to pass up an embossing folder!
Su, this is so pretty! I love your “little birdy” it reminds me of the Peanuts song about Woodstock in the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. I love how you embossed for that shine and the added envelope decoration as well. Thanks for sharing 🙂
I love that the bird makes you think of Woodstock, Jennifer. Thanks for the compliments, and reminding me of that Peanuts song!
Love all the special details of this beautiful card. Nice job
I appreciate your kind words. Thanks Janet!
I love the depth of this card. Great job!
Thanks so much, Lisa!
