Wow! I’m having so much fun! My pre-order of the 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog arrived, and I couldn’t wait to share with you my first, “sneak peek.”

birds & lace
As I opened the box, each new product was amazing! It was hard deciding what to play with first, but I was most anxious to try the Stitched Lace die. I began by cutting with regular Whisper White cardstock, and all the tiny holes came out perfectly, when using the Foam Pad and Brush (item #149655 in the new catalog).
Second, I used Thick Whisper White cardstock, and I did have to individually poke out a number of holes. But, I wanted the thickness for this project, and I think it was worth it. Next, I used the “edge” die to form the pretty, horizontal, borders, and wound some Linen Thread around my lace piece. Then, I glued this to the bottom portion of a Thick Whisper White card base, that I had embossed with the Subtle Textured embossing folder.
Next, I opened the pack of Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. Nothing like the smell of freshly inked paper! It brought back the excitement of opening new text books in elementary school. I chose a piece with beautiful birds, and began snipping away. I covered the back of the snipped birds with Dimensionals, and set it aside.
The sentiment, “Your friendship means the world to me,” is from the Free As A Bird stamp set, which comes as a bundle with the Stitched Nested Label dies. I used the third to smallest die in the set for the sentiment, thinking how this die set will get a tremendous amount of use.
My inspiration for the layout was from this week’s CAS(E) this sketch.
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this “sneak peek.” Demonstrators are able to pre-order certain items now, and customers and demonstrators are able to order from the entire catalog June 4th. Start making your “wish lists!” Mine is already growing!

Su, I loved this card when I first saw it and pinned it to make. I haven’t amde it yet but I’m so glad I saw this card because it inspired me to buy the lace dies. It’s kind of rainy out so I think I’ll go make the card today. Love the layout and the idea of just using the birds from the paper. Great card!
Thank you, Donna! An oldie, but goodie from 2019! Have fun making a card!
Absolutely fabulous. The lace die is particularly effective.
Thank you, Susan!
Gorgeous card! So for the Lacey die, in order to make it narrower , you use the edge die that comes with it and it cuts it? Do you place it in a certain location on the die cut lace piece. Thank you.
Thank you, Debbie! Yes, you use the edge die to make it narrower. I placed it so I would get two full rows of the pattern.
Love this card
May I ask the colors used on the birds? Super fantastic card!!!
Hi Vickie,
Click on the picture of the Bird Ballad designer paper in my Product List. I just snipped it from the paper. Very fun and easy!
Absolutely love your card and this stamp set and dies. I am awaiting my order with this bundle! I was wondering about the lace die….how hard is this to release and imprint? I worry with the intricate dies, even with precision plate.
Thank you, Kathy! It was much easier than I anticipated. It came out unbelievably clean when I used the regular Whisper White. It was a little difficult with the Thick Whisper White.
Thanks, Su.
Beautiful card Sue! I love the detail & simplicity all wrapped together. You are so very creative, thank you for sharing!
Thank you very much, Lynda! It’s my pleasure to share!
Lovely card, Sue. The lacy die set is now on my wish list. You make beautiful cards.
Thank you, Deba! So glad I can help you grow your wish list!
This is beautiful! I was waiting to hear how tedious it was to poke out the little holes in this gorgeous die; it certainly seems worth the work, it is very pretty, especially with those sweet little birds!
Thank you, Leanne! I will continue experimenting with the die. It’s one of Stampin’ Up’s new dies, so the amount of pressure will make a difference.
This is so pretty Su – I love that you used the birds from the paper. That new lace die is gorgeous!
