Christmas And Friends

I love receiving Christmas cards, and today’s card is one I received from a very dear friend.

My very talented friend, Lisa, and I have been friends for 40 years, and she has been sending cards for as long as I’ve known her. But, funny thing, she hadn’t known about Stampin’ Up! So, I introduced her to it three years ago, and she signed up. Her cards are filled with detail, and love, but she doesn’t post them. I did get her permission!

Now, what do you think of this adorable raccoon?

He is brand new from the Special Someone Stamp Set in the 2020 Mini Catalog. When I saw the sentiment, “This is a special balloon” and “it’s filled with heal-ium!” I wanted to start stamping as fast as possible.

Raccoon’s Special Balloon

I realized the stamp set is actually “Two-Step” stamping, so I knew I wanted to use my Stamparatus. This would insure the stamps would line up properly. I began with the detailed, raccoon stamp in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. This was followed by stamping the solid, raccoon stamp in Gray Granite Ink on top of the first image.

TIP: Be sure the white part on his face is lined up. The stamps are clear, photopolymer, so you can see.

Next, I placed the balloon string on the Stamparatus, and stamped it in Early Espresso Ink. Then, I stamped the outline of the balloon in Merry Merlot Ink, followed by the solid stamp (stamped off) in Merry Merlot Ink.

I cut my stamped image using another new, 2020 product I was excited to try, a Stitched So Sweetly Die. Don’t you love the scalloped edge? I used a smaller size for the sentiment.  The dies are perfect for sentiments, stamped images and layering. How fun, and sweet!

With all this newness, I thought the raccoon should have a new background. He is standing in a field of poppies from 2020 Peaceful Poppies Designer Paper, and the dotted paper is from the same pack. Isn’t it gorgeous?

My inspiration was the CAS(E) this sketch challenge. Although, I took liberties with the sketch, so I could complete the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by! You can see details on the new 2020 items in my Product List. They are available for demonstrators now, and customers, Jan 3. You can, also, read about the Stamparatus, if you aren’t familiar with it.

Last Minute Gift Idea for the Kre8tors December Blog Hop

Are you looking for last minute gift ideas? Nothing beats a gift card or cash, especially when it’s delivered in a personalized, handmade holder.

I’ve made this gift card holder in many different papers, and today’s selection is from Feels Like Frost Designer Paper.

To coordinate with the DSP, I used three colors of cardstock: Purple Posy, Gray Granite, and Seaside Spray.

By Su Mohr for Kre8tors Blog Hop; Click READ or Visit to go to my blog for details! Featuring: gift card holders, Detailed Deer Dies, Dashing Deer Stamp Set, Stampin' Up! Reindeer Gift Card Holders

                                                        INSTRUCTIONS

An  8 1/2″ X 11″ piece of cardstock makes two gift cards that are 7 3/4″ X 5″.  Score at 6″ and 2 1/2″.

The 7 3/4″ X 1″ strip on the side becomes the band around the gift card holder. If you want to conserve paper, you could cut the 3/4″ strip first (shown on the bottom in pieces), and use it for the second band. However, I prefer the 1″ width.

The band is scored at 6 1/8″ and 2 1/2″. You want that extra 1/8 inch on the scoring, so the band will slide off and on easily.

Cut two pieces of Designer Series Paper: The bottom front is 4 3/4″ X 2 1/4″. The top front is 4 3/4″ X 1 1/2″.

Cut one piece of Whisper White cardstock for the sentiment on the inside, 4 3/4″ X 1 1/2″.

Use a circle punch to make a finger slot in the middle of the bottom front.

Attach a piece of Tear & Tape to each side of the bottom (inside), and close, sealing your pocket.

I decorated three of the bands with reindeer from the Dashing Deer Stamp Set, stamped in three ink colors: Early Espresso, Night Of Navy, and Highland Heather. I stamped on Thick Whisper White Cardstock, and used their Detailed Deer Die for cutting.

TIP: Glue the band with the raw edge in front. This will be covered by the reindeer, which keeps the back looking smooth and pretty.

I used a pice of Tear & Tape to hold the reindeer securely.

The other three bands have a reindeer cut from Sparkle Glimmer Paper with their Detailed Deer Die.

TIP:This paper is a good choice, because it is flexible, and their delicate, “free-flying” antlers are not as likely to tear.

Here’s another look at this completed trio. Well, almost complete; just need to enclose a gift card, or cash, along with a personal note.

I used Stampin’ Up’s new Paper Trimmer for measuring, cutting, and scoring.

You can purchase the Paper Trimmer, along with all the Gift Card Holder supplies, in my store. Just click on the pictures in my Product List below, and have fun shopping. Thank you! I appreciate your support!

UPDATE: I discovered that Feels Like Frost is not available right now. But, the good news is, it will be in next year’s 2020 Holiday Catalog. In the meantime, you can be creative with many other holiday papers. May I suggest, Wrapped In Plaid?

Golf For The Paper Players Design Team

Welcome to the Paper Players last challenge of the year. What a great color combination!

I made my card on December 3rd, the day that Demonstrators were able to order from the new, Mini 2020 Catalog. So, to celebrate the day, I used the Clubhouse Stamp Set and Golf Club Die Set, which I pre-ordered at On Stage.

By Su Mohr for Paper Players Design Team; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Clubhouse Stamp Set, Golf Club Dies, Shimmer Detailed Laser-Cut DSP, Pressed Petals DSP, Foam Adhesive Strips, Layering Ovals Dies; #golf #golfclub #clubhouse #shimmerlaser-cutpaper #pressedpetals #2020minicatalog #2020stampinup #stampinup #golfoncards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking

Golfer in 3D

The first thing I did was stamp the golfer in Early Espresso Ink on Pressed Petals Designer Paper. I thought the burlap design would give the golfer some nice texture, which blends with Crumb Cake. It was really fun cutting him out with his die from the Golf Club Die Set.

TIP: I layered him with a second cut of Crumb Cake Cardstock for thickness.

Needing to use the color “gold,” I found a piece of Shimmer Detailed Laser-Cut DSP with an oval in the middle. This special paper is white on one side, and pretty, shimmery gold, on the side I’m using. I layered this on Seaside Spray Cardstock, and to create depth for the golfer’s scene, I used a layering Ovals Die to cut a hole through the layer.

Next, I stamped trees from the Winter Woods Stamp Set in Crumb Cake Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock. After adding Adhesive Foam Strips to the edge of the tree’s layer, I attached the oval layer. This created a window for the golfer, and the ball he hit over the trees.

I stamped the sentiment, “I hope the next year is full of green fairways, blue skies & short putts,” in Early Espresso Ink.

This card will go to one of the golfers in my family. I’m so happy Stampin’ Up! designed this set!

Now, check out the blogs to see more inspiration with this color combination.

Rudolph Wearing His Red Scarf

You could say I was on a roll, because a third card quickly developed from one sketch.

By Su Mohr; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Detailed Deer Dies, Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, Ornate Frames Dies, Playful Penguin Stamp Set, Stitched Rectangles Dies; #christmascards #reindeer #holidaycards #deer #wrappedinplaid #detaileddeer #ornateframes #cardchallenges #cardsketches #handmadecards #handcrafted #dit #cardmaking #2019holiday

Rudolph in scarf

This time I started with Wrapped In Plaid Designer Paper in the reindeer pattern, for the 1″ strip. Then, I added dotted Designer Paper from the 6X6 Regals Collection. This particular dot has retired, but you’ll find four new patterns in my Product List.

TIP: First, I glued the two papers on Whisper White cardstock, slightly larger than I needed. Next, I used the second to largest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting. This insured the DSP on my rectangle would be perfectly even on its Thick Whisper White card base. Thank you, Stitched Rectangles Dies!

You probably guessed what was coming next! Yes, it’s Rudolph my favorite Detailed Deer, cut from Thick Whisper White Cardstock.

Rudolph felt brave enough to ask the Playful Penguins if he could borrow their scarf, because he knew they were generous in lending Santa’s hat. Rudolph does look handsome in his Cherry Cobbler scarf, doesn’t he?

TIP: I fussy cut the scarf, and trimmed it a bit more, to fit his thin neck. I’m not sure it can be returned in this condition. It may need to be a gift.

“Happy Christmas” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler Ink, cut with an Ornate Frames Die.

I hope you were inspired by today’s card. I know Rudolph was happy to show off his new scarf. Have a wonderful day!

As always, my store is open for shopping. Crafting supplies make great Christmas gifts!

It’s A Winter Wonderland

I had so much fun with yesterday’s sketch challenge, today’s Winter Wonderland card fell into place.

By Su Mohr; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Majestic Mountain Dies, Mercury Glass Acetate, Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set, Silver Foil, Iridescent Sequins; #christmascards #holidaycards #mercuryglasspaper #silverchristmas #christmastreesoncards #silvertrees handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking

Silver Tree

I began with the 1″ strip on the left side of the card front. It was made with Mercury Glass Acetate, an unusual paper that was introduced in the 2019 Holiday Catalog, which is now on the “retiring” list. If you have to have some, you can click on the picture in my Product List to order, asap.

Next, I cut the tree with a Majestic Mountain Die from a Silver Foil Sheet. This die set has already become a favorite of mine, from the new 2020 mini-Catalog, available for demonstrators now, and customers January 3. I’ve pictured it my Product List, along with its Mountain Air Stamp Set, so you can see the details of this fabulous bundle.

The background is Seaside Spray Cardstock with a Smoky Slate card base.

“Merry Christmas” is from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set, stamped in Seaside Spray Ink.

Iridescent Sequins were the final touch.

You can see the entire “retiring” list by clicking through on my “shop” button. Thank you for shopping with me. I appreciate you!
