Birthday Memories

This is my finished card for this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch #223:

What’s a CAS(E) this Sketch? Case has several meanings, but one is “copy and share with everyone.” Those who participate are given a sketch to use as a starting point for creating a card. I enjoy participating in these challenges, because it gets the creative juices flowing.

I turned this week’s sketch on it’s side, because the Lovely Words oval die with the word “friend” came to mind. I was anxious to use something from the new catalog that’s available June 1. Also new from the Birthday Delivery Bundle (a bundle because you order the stamps and metal dies together and get a 10% discount) are the dies pictured to the left of the oval. And, the Designer Series paper is “to “DIE” for!” Can you see how the adorable girl and balloon are die cut from the paper?

The Designer Series paper was used to cut the oval “friend,” which was layered on a Marina Mist card base. The little girl and balloon were popped up on dimensionals, and “celebrate” from the Thoughtful Banners was stamped on a balloon. I added an inside oval of white by using the Layering Ovals framelit dies. The completed card is pictured on DSP from the same pack.

And, while I was working with this fabulous paper, a second card developed, without even trying.

Are they cute, or what? And all I had to do was cut a 5 1/8 X 3 3/4 piece directly from the Designer Series paper and glue it to this Cherry Cobbler card base. I added a sentiment and four Glitter Enamel Dots, and voila!

You just have to be careful not to cut off the back of the turtle or the front of the raccoon.

Are you thinking these would make great kid’s cards? I’m with you, but I’m also thinking they are for the young at heart. They take me back to visions of Goldenbooks that my mother read to me as I rested my head on her shoulder. I know I would like to receive one of these cards. Afterall, the name of the paper is Birthday Memories.

Daylilies

My yard is in bloom, and I grabbed my camera before the sun set yesterday. Daylilies are so pretty, I only wish they’d last more than a day. They are a reminder of how quickly time passes.

I had to go to my Young Living Virtual Office to remember how long I’ve been using essential oils. I signed up for the Starter Kit December 17, 2014. It doesn’t seem that long ago, and yet I can’t imagine my life without these amazing oils.

And then, Stampin’ Up entered the picture. I wanted to create an original Oil Recipe book. This was about a year and a half ago. I’m off to play tennis now, so more details to come later. Have a great day, and remember those daylilies only last one day!
