Happy Sunday, everyone! It’s that time again for another Paper Players Design Team project. Today’s card has several rectangles, and lots of Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.
Here’s the sketch:
The first thing was deciding on my focal point, which would be one of the beautiful birds, fussy cut from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. Next, I layered a floral print from the same DSP on a Petal Pink card base and topped that with Whisper White Cardstock, cut with a Rectangles Stitched Die. For added texture, the white layer was embossed with Layered Leaves.
The vertical rectangle was made with dotted Bird Ballad DSP, embossed with the Eyelet Lace Embossing Folder, and given scalloped ends with a Be Mine Stitched Die.
My fussy cut bird is perched on a frame, made with two Stitched Rectangle Dies and Petal Pink Cardstock.
TIP: Place one die inside the other, and cut at the same time.
The sentiment, “fabulous at any age,” is from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp set, which I cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangle Die.
TIP: Turn the die around for a second cut to make a shorter label.
Last, but not least, embellishment! I knotted a small piece of the beautiful, Petal Pink, Organdy Ribbon, attaching it with a Glue Dot. And, a Petal Pink, Frosted Flower draws your eye to the sentiment.

The Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog must be making me think months ahead, because today’s card is birds in a Winter Woodland Scene.
Woodland Birds
I began by fussy cutting the two birds from Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. Then, I used two Layering Circles Dies to cut a circle of dotted Sahara Sand DSP, and a scalloped circle of Champagne Foil.
This dot is from retired 6X6 DSP, but there are four, new patterns in every Stampin’ Up! color, available now. You can click on the picture in my Product List for details.
Next, I chose a Thick Whisper White card base, topped with Whisper White, embossed with the Woodland Embossing Folder. I tied a strand of Linen Thread around it, thinking the birds would like this to build their nest.
The two birds and subtle colors drew me to the sentiment, “I’m here for you,” from Itty Bitty Greetings. The sentiment fit perfectly in the label from the Merry Christmas Die Set, which I balanced on a tree branch.
White sequins were the final touch to add some sparkle.
My layout was inspired by CAS(E) this sketch.

Today’s card has lots of white space (literally), a carved heart and tiny foil dots.
Carved Wood Heart
This week’s Freshly Made Sketch was my inspiration.
I began with a Thick Whisper White card base, layered with Whisper White that I cut with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die.
The heart was cut with a Be Mine Stitched Die from wood (it’s really paper) in the Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper pack.
When my husband saw this card, he said, “Nice card, is it for me?” So, this qualifies it as a masculine card, and my theory holds true: anytime wood is used, it’s a masculine card.
Beneath the heart is a branch, cut with a die from In the Woods, a carry-over set from last season’s Holiday Catalog.
The dots are made with the Handheld 1/16th Inch Punch and Noble Peacock Foil Sheets, which comes in the three colors you see in the dots.
TIP: The dots are saved within the punch, so they don’t pop all over your work space. Place a tiny pin dot of glue where you want a dot. Then, pick up the dot, put it on the glue, and tap gently with a pin. Reading glasses help!
My clean & simple, masculine card, is complete, with a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings, and cut with a Merry Christmas Label Die.

The Hand-Lettered Prose Dies were perfect to use for today’s color challenge.
Bright “happy”
The color challenge is from Fab Friday:
First, I used a stamp from the Waterfront Stamp set to stamp rows of the colors on Whisper White Cardstock.
Then, I used the the letters, “h-a-p-y,” to cut “happy” from my striped paper, and layered the letters for thickness. Can you see the stamp I used from Waterfront?
“Birthday” is from the Well Said Stamp Set, stamped in Pacific Point Ink, and cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die.
For the background, I thought the bright letters would look great against white, and decided to emboss the Whisper White Cardstock with the Brick & Mortar Embossing folder.

I’ve used the pens from the Crafting Forever Stamp set a number of times, and here they are simply stamped in black, expressing a thank you beyond words.
Beyond Words
The pens are stamped in Memento Black Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, that is bordered with Basic Black Cardstock.
The sentiment, “Words can’t express just how deeply your love a support has been appreciated,” is from the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set. I used a Stitched Rectangle Die for cutting, and gave it a matching black border.
To emphasize the lack of words, the pens are dripping color, created with a stamp from the Waterfront Stamp Set. The ink colors are: Real Red, Night of Navy, and Daffodil Delight.
The theme at Global Design Project reminded me to use the Crafting Forever Stamp Set.
Minus the black border, and die-cut sentiment, this would qualify for #simplestamping. I’m tempted to call it that anyway!

Are you ready for Christmas in July? I must admit, I’ve been watching the Hallmark movies, and their Christmas in July movies are getting me in the mood. Plus, this is the day that Stampin’ Up! demonstrators get to view the Holiday 2019 Catalog, so, time to bring out my favorite reindeer from 2018, wearing a new coat of burlap.
Burlap Reindeer
The reindeer is from the carry-over die set, Detailed Deer, and his burlap coat is from Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper, both available right now. You can click on the pictures in my Product List to order.
The deer’s background was made with trees from the Winter Woods Stamp Set, also a carry-over from 2018, and available now. I stamped the trees in VersaMark on Whisper White Cardstock, sprinkled them with Gold Powder, and set it with the Heat Tool. It’s not the easiest to photograph shine, but you can see it here.
I trimmed the background with a Stitched Rectangle Die (second to the largest), and adhered it to a Thick Whisper White card base, that was embossed with the Eyelet Lace Embossing Folder. It kinda looks like snow, right?
The snowflakes were made with two dies from the Detailed Deer Die Set, cut from Sparkle Glimmer Paper.
The sentiment, ” ’tis the season,” is from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede Ink, and cut with a Merry Christmas label die.
An additional incentive for creating this Christmas card is the challenge at TGIF, “Christmas in July.”
