This week’s Global Design Project is a “numbers” theme. I looked through my retired stash to find the perfect numbers for my granddaughter’s birthday card. Lily is very excited to be turning four in August.

I began by cutting numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 from Silly Old Bear Designer Paper in a gingham pattern. To give the numbers dimension, I placed the DSP on a Foam Adhesive Sheet before running the numbers through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Then, it was easy to peel & stick them to the card front.

Lily turns 4
The card base is Barely Blush Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. It is layered with Basic Beige Cardstock, cut with a Sweet Words & Labels Die. I used this same die to cut Basic White Cardstock for the inside. Prior to gluing, I stamped it in Crumb Cake Ink with a sentiment from the Sweet Old Friends Stamp Set, “I will love you until forever. And even after that.” This is exactly what I want to say to Lily.

Next, I used Sweet Old Friends Dies to cut Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, and Rabbit from Silly Old Bear Designer Paper. After layering them for thickness, I attached the friends with Dimensionals.

“Happy Birthday” is from the Lovely Arrangements Stamp Set. I stamped it in Crumb Cake Ink on Basic White Cardstock, used a Lovely Arrangements Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals. Lily has taken quite an interest in “stamping,” so I think she’ll like her birthday card.

This week’s Global Design Project is a sketch challenge. I hope you’ll join in the fun, and share your creation on social media. Don’t forget to tag it #gdp554.

This fun fold design looks just like the sketch, when it’s closed. The card base is Thick Basic White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and 6 3/8″ Then, I covered it in a beautiful pattern of Valley In Bloom Designer Paper; the front two are 1 7/8″ X 5 1/4″, and the back panel is 4″ X 5 1/4″.

Lily Of The Valley Fun Fold
Next, I cut two squares of Thick Basic White Cardstock, using a Stylish Shapes Die, and two squares of Valley In Bloom Designer Paper, using a Stylish Shapes Die, a size smaller. After gluing the squares together, I glued them to the card base. I glued the front square first, positioning it in the center, and making sure to only glue half on the front flap. Then, I glued the inside square by placing it on the front square, and bringing the back of the card base to meet it. I hope this makes sense, and I suggest doing a dry run first.

The sentiment, “a little thanks,” is from the Lily Of The Valley Stamp Set, stamped in Garden Green Ink. The leaves were cut with a Lily Of The Valley Die from Valley In Bloom DSP, and glued in place. The lilies were cut from Thick Basic White Cardstock, and given a touch of color with a Water Painter and a Gorgeous Grape Watercolor Pencil.

I began stamping the flowers, from the Boutique Blossoms Stamp Set, in Timid Tiger Ink on Basic White Cardstock. The leaves were cut with a Boutique Blossoms Die from Bloom Boutique Designer Paper, and glued to the background, before attaching the flowers.

Boutique Blossoms on Gingham
The background is a sneak peek of new, Gingham Gallery Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″, glued to a Barely Blush card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ folded at 4 1/4″. This paper will be available, in Online Exclusives, July 1. The four corners are decorated with Basic White Cardstock, cut with a Beautifully Celebrated Die.

The sentiment, “You’re the sweetest,” is from the Banner Sayings Stamp Set. I stamped it in Peaceful Pine Ink, and used a Banner Sayings Punch for cutting. To complete the design, I used a Boutique Blossoms Die to cut Basic White Cardstock flowers, curled them with a Bone Folder, and added centers of In Color Flat Pearls.

For this week’s Global Design Project, we get to CASE the fabulous Jay Soriano. His potted plants are wonderful, which inspired my design. We’d love to see what you create, so please share it on social media, and tag it #gdp552.

To begin, I used a Blending Brush with Calypso Coral Ink on Basic White Cardstock. After coloring, I used Help Me Grow Dies to cut the pot and dish. The dies come with “slices” to insert the pot in the dish, and plants in the pot! For the leaves and flowers, I used more Help Me Grow Dies. The leaves were cut from Lovely & Beautiful Designer Paper, and the flowers were cut from Basic White Cardstock.

Potted Plant
Next, I cut the background with the 4th largest Everyday Arches Die from Wood Grain Wonders Designer Paper. This was glued to Lovely & Beautiful Designer paper, cut with the 2nd largest Everyday Arches Die. Both were glued to a Basic Beige card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

“Thanks” is from the Help Me Grow Stamp Set. I stamped it in Early Espresso Ink on Basic White Cardstock, used a Help Me Grow Die for cutting, and tucked it in the pot. After attaching the pot with Dimensionals, my card was complete.

Product of the Month ($5.00 with a $75.00 order).

This week’s Global Design Project is an “animal” theme. We would love to see your animal themed cards, and don’t forget to tag it #gdp551.

I HAD to feature my favorite bear, Winnie the Pooh, on a birthday card.

Silly Old Bear
Winnie the Pooh is sharing the spotlight with his favorite friend, Piglet. They were cut with Sweet Old Friend Dies from Silly Old Bear Designer Paper. After layering them for thickness, I placed them on Dimensionals.

The animals are sitting on Basic White Cardstock, cut with a Sweet Words & Labels Die. After cutting, I stamped it in Crumb Cake Ink, from the Sweet Words & Labels Stamp Set, giving the white frame a detailed border. I layered this on Basic Beige Cardstock, cut with a Sweet Words & Labels Die a size larger. The frames are attached with Dimensionals to Silly Old Bear Designer Paper in a Barely Blush, checked pattern, 4″ X 5 1/4″. The card base is Basic Beige Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

This week’s Global Design Project is a sketch challenge. My first decision was to use the Relaxing Waterside Bundle.

I was excited to cut the fabulous, Relaxing Waterside chair from Country Woods Designer Paper. I actually cut the chair from six of the wood patterns before choosing the brown chair you see. The others will probably show up on different cards.

Relaxing Waterside
Next, I used the largest, square, Stylish Shapes Die, to cut a scene from Waterside Retreat Designer Paper.

Then, I used the smallest, square, Stylish Shapes Die, to cut four patterns of Waterside Retreat Designer Paper. “Dad” is from the Relaxing Waterside Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink on one of the squares. Before attaching the squares, I cut a pattern of Bloom Boutique Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″. This Peaceful Pine, wavy, pattern was glued to a Peaceful Pine card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I glued the large, scene, flat, layered the small squares on cardstock, and attached them with Dimensionals.

For the inside, I glued Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. “Have a great birthday” is from the Relaxing Waterside Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso ink. To complete the card, I fussy cut a fish from Waterside Retreat DSP, and glued it in place.
