Remember 1964? The Dixiecups singing “Going to the Chapel?” When I saw this pretty, little church in the Hometown Greetings die set, I thought it would make a great wedding card.
Gold and white are wonderful wedding card colors, so I die cut the church with the house and two trees from Gold Foil paper. When I saw the challenge at Paper Players was a sketch with an object on a hill, (that’s the way I saw it, anyway) I added some Gold Thread to make the slight hill more pronounced.
Prior to attaching the Gold Foil die-cut and Gold Thread, I embossed the Whisper White cardstock with the Fluttering Hearts embossing folder. It’s really called Falling Petals, but I renamed it. Doesn’t it look like hearts? I found “wedding wishes” in the Floral Phrases stamp set, just the right size to fit in my die cut heart. The inside sentiment, a favorite for wedding cards, was in Rose Wonder.
I hope the sketch designer doesn’t mind that my sentiment isn’t in the lower, right hand corner. It was breezy that day, and it flew to the top of the card.
I enjoyed making this card, but now I can’t get the song out of my head. Sorry if I inflicted you. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Yes, I’m singing that tune now too Su – I’m so glad you mentioned the group, that’s the kind of thing that would have perplexed me for hours! What a clever take on the sketch – love the gold against the embossed heart background, so romantic! Thanks for sharing with us over at the Paper Players this week!
Thanks, Joanne! Just now seeing your nice comment, and glad I mentioned the group. I understand trying to think of a name that’s lost in my brain.
Su, what a lovely wedding card! Now, you have me singing that song! LOL! Love the embossing and the gold foil chapel and house! So happy you joined us at The Paper Players this week! XX
Thanks so much Claire! It’s a catchy tune, huh?
Very sweet card. Love it. Older song do stick in our head
Yes they do! Thanks, Stella!
Perfect use of the Chapel, Su!
Our gym plays that song sometimes in our water aerobics class and my husband and I end up humming it for the rest of the day. Lol!
That’s funny! Thanks Debra!
