Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for August 2017. This month our theme is “Thank You.” You may be starting the blog hop here, Aromas and Art– Su Mohr, or you may have come from another person in the list. The full line-up below will help you stay on track, so you don’t miss any of the fabulous projects being shared today.
This cat’s name is Chintzy, not because she’s cheap, but because of the floral pattern decorating her fur. I had to create a chintz cat. I’ll explain why.
I come from a long line of collectors. My grandmother had a wonderful collection of antique demitasse cups and saucers that I admired as a child. She would let me “play” with them, and gave me her collection when she downsized. I added to it over the years, but cut myself off when my cabinet maxed out at 60. I also inherited a figurine collection, which included this black, meowing cat, one of my favorites. I wanted to combine these two porcelain items into a paper cat.
There was a perfect sheet of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper for punching the cat, which I backed with Thick Whisper White cardstock, because I knew she deserved to be on dimensionals. Everyone knows that cats like birds, so I used a Birds and Blooms die to cut a cute, white bird. This bird needed a branch, which I die cut from Seasonal Layers. I thought a window was a good idea to separate the two, and Hearth & Home Framelits dies provided the solution. So, Chintzy is inside the house, sitting on a table, in her pretty room with wallpaper from Delightful Daisy.
But, she is yearning to be outside on this sunny (Daffodil Delight) day playing with her bird friend. The excitement of it all is causing her to say, “You light up my life.” I’m sure this sentiment would be well received by humans. I know I’d like it, if someone said that to me. And, I’d especially appreciate the sentiment inside.
Isn’t the font pretty? It’s from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set. I added a daisy from the Daisy Delight stamp set, and the envelope flap is from Delightful Daisy DSP.
