Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for July 2017. This month our theme is “Sparkle.” You may be starting the blog hop here, Aromas and Art- Su Mohr, or you may have come from another person in the list. The full line-up below will help you stay on track, so you don’t miss any of the fabulous projects being shared today.
What was the first thing I thought of when I heard the word “sparkle?” I thought of sugar. Actually, I thought of the complete expression, “it shines like Imperial sugar.” I grew up in San Diego, but my mother was raised in Texas, and this was just one of many southern expressions that she and my grandmother passed on to me.
Fortunately, Stampin’ Up! has just the thing that looks exactly like sparkling sugar, the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper! And the other thing that sparkles……….diamonds! I chose my diamond making tool from the Eclectic Layers Thinlit Dies and rolled it through the Big Shot using a rectangle of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. I decided on a neutral background of Crumb Cake, and used the same die placed at an angle. I positioned this for dimension, and used a Basic Black card base for contrast.
Diamonds are dazzling, alright, and I found the sentiment, “You Dazzle Me” in the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set. I stamped this in Basic Black on Crumb Cake, layered it on Basic Black, and popped it up on dimensionals. I wanted to add a touch of color, and chose our new In Colors, Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst. I cut just a few of the colorful diamonds using that same Eclectic Layers die, and I had plenty of Glimmer Paper “scraps” to fall down the front of my project. Why not add some real diamonds? Stampin’ Up! rhinestone embellishments would have to do, and they come ready to stick, so much easier than real ones.
A few more of those Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper diamonds found a spot on the envelope. I tried to capture the sparkle in the photos. You’ll have to take my word for it; “it’s shining like Imperial sugar!”
