I’ve always liked the combination of pink and grey, and this idea started formulating a couple months ago. What was I waiting for? I was waiting for a package in the mail from Mary Fish; a roll of Smoky Slate Gingham ribbon. Because I participate in her #bandit13 (submitting 13 cards a month), I’m eligible for the free monthly gift. She is not only generous, but a fabulous leader who loves her Pals, and the feeling is mutual.
I think you can see why I needed the gingham ribbon.

The card base is Powder Pink, layered with Smoky Slate and Whisper White. I used the smallest Stitched Shape square to die cut six Powder Pink squares, and six Thick Whisper White squares. You can see how they were alternated in a checkerboard pattern for the baby blanket.
Tear Tape was used to fasten the gingham ribbon. I tried a regular bow, but it overwhelmed the blanket, so I tied a knot, cut the ends like a banner, and stuck it down with a mini glue dot, or two.
The envelope flap was decorated with a piece of Powder Pink, Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper. Note to self: Do this more often.

Are you not in love with this elephant?! He’s from the A Little Wild stamp set, and his die comes with a hole in the top, ready to be used as a tag. I glued him to this card, but you can see his backside in the picture above. The bear and lion in this set are equally adorable. They are a bit jealous, but I explained to them that elephants are grey, and they are not.

The sentiment fits right inside the elephant, “a great big welcome for a sweet little someone.” And, here’s a close up view of the gingham ribbon. Thank you, Mary Fish, and Kris for getting everything organized and mailed. You are much appreciated!

Thanks Hope! Your thoughtful comments made me feel extra special today!
What an ingenious use of the small die. That technique could be used on any card. The pink and grey colors are so soft and appropriate for a baby card. Clever use of the stamp and ribbon, too. Congratulations on your creativity.
Adorable!!
Thank you, Cheryl!
