For those who relish the warm days of summer, the Waves of Inspiration Stamp Set, and Waves Dies, are perfect for creating beach scenes. The Waves Dies are amazing, and I had fun using the “paper piecing” technique on today’s card.
After cutting the wave from Basic White Cardstock, I colored the “cut out” pieces with a Sponge Dauber and ink (Pool Party, Balmy Blue and a mystery color), and replaced them in the holes. The mystery color was in a Sponge Dauber that I thought had been rinsed clean; an accident that improved the look. LOL

Beach Scene
For the background, I used a Blending Brush and Petal Pink Ink to lightly color Basic White Cardstock, 4 3/4″ X 3 1/2″. Then, I cut clouds, using Wave Dies, from Basic White Cardstock I had colored with a Blending Brush and two inks: Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo.

Next, I decided to use a Fabulous Frames Die to cut a Gray Granite frame for my scene, and attached the framed scene to a Gray Granite card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The last step was adding detail to the frame with a sentiment and a Pelican, both from the Waves Of Inspiration Stamp Set, and attached with Dimensionals. I stamped the Pelican and “happy birthday” in Gray Granite Ink, and used a Waves Die to cut the Pelican, and a Sending Die for the sentiment.

I was inspired by TGIF.

So lovely! Love that dusty sunset in reality and when not possible, a card like this 😉
Thank you, Stephanie! It’s a beautiful time of day, for sure!
Love this technique! I used it today… unfortunately on a sympathy card. I used the Simply Marbleous DSP (retired) for the interior regions of the wave and used Misty Moonlight cardstock (also retired) for the card base. It turned out really pretty.
Your card sounds wonderful, Barbara! Thanks for sharing!
It’s beautiful, Su! I love the frame and the simplicity of the wave with the pelican. Great job!
Thank you, Hilda! I appreciate your nice comment!
Love your card. I haven’t used my waves die yet but I certainly will be now. Love your color combination.
Thank you, Mary! Have fun with the Waves Dies!
I love the way this turned out, Su! I hadn’t thought of paper piecing the waves, but I’ll be trying it now!
Thank you, Karen! Paper piecing is a favorite technique; like a jigsaw puzzle!
