The theme for this month’s highlights is “sympathy.”

When someone loses a loved one, it is a very sad time. It’s hard to find just the right words to express sympathy. These cards are difficult to send, but probably the most needed and appreciated.

Flourishing Phrases is my stamp set “go to” for sympathy cards.

For this project, I wanted to combine the solid look of Wood Textures with the softness of Powder Pink and Very Vanilla. The design is one that I came up previously, except I used a heart rather than a circle.

I chose the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, and glued it to Thick Very Vanilla, both 4″ X 5 1/4.” Next, I used a heart die to cut the shape through the two layers. At this point, I stamped “Comfort & Healing To You,” on the heart. Holding the two together, gluing only the heart, I centered this on the card base. Then, I lifted the surrounding piece, added the Foam Adhesive strips, and placed it on the card base. I hope this makes sense.

Powder Pink was my choice for the delicate Flourish die to wrap around the heart.

The verse inside says what I would like to hear, “Praying that your heart will be lifted by the many loving thoughts that surround you today.” It seemed right to use dimensionals to lift this heart.

A die cut sprig of pink for the inside, and tiny pearls on the front, completed my project.
