Thanks for stopping by today. I’d like you to meet Frosty, from the Spirited Snowmen stamp set. How can you not smile when looking at him? He is jumping for joy at being featured on this holiday card.

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty doesn’t come with a die for cutting, but he wasn’t that difficult to fussy cut with my Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips. And, he was easy to color, because his snow packed body is already white. I used six Stampin’ Blends to color his details: Dark Real Red, Dark Pumpkin Pie, Dark Granny Apple Green, Light Pool Party, Light Bermuda Bay, and Bronze. After placing Dimensionals on his back side, he was ready to play in his scene.

NEW EMBOSSING TECHNIQUE

I used a “new to me” technique for the background, which is applying ink directly to the embossing folder before running it through the Big Shot with cardstock. First, I rubbed Pool Party ink (back of the top side) on the  Softly Falling embossing folder. Then, I placed the Whisper White cardstock layer in the folder, and sent it through the Big Shot. Fun, huh?

TIP: I rinsed the embossing folder with water immediately afterward, so it would be free of ink.

Frosty was happy with the results, and it was time to make his snowdrift. This week’s CAS(E) this sketch gave me the idea for Frosty’s playground. I just flipped it around.

The Swirly Scribbles die worked out perfectly for cutting the snowdrift from Thick Whisper White cardstock.  After cutting the snowdrift, I used a cotton swab to coat it with Frost White Shimmer Paint, making it sparkle. (It really does, in person).

The center cut-out from the die provided a nice spot for the sentiment, ” ‘Tis the season,” which is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.
