It’s Sunday, and time for Paper Players, where “friends” is the theme. My mind immediately went to the Crafting Forever stamp set, and I took the sentiment, “we are cut out to be friends,” literally

Cut Out Friends
First, I stamped the friends from The Enjoy Life stamp set in Night of Navy ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock. Then, I cut them out using my Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips.
Since their arms were in the air, I gave them a large word to hold, “friend,” from the Well Written die set.

I designed the rest of the card around my cut out friends. The card base is Thick Whisper White followed by a layer of Twinkle Twinkle DSP in Night of Navy. It looks like stitching, so went along with the crafting theme that was developing.
The top layer is Whisper White cardstock, that I edged with a Be Mine Stitched die, and embossed with the Quilt Top folder.
I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy ink, and used an oval Stitched Shapes die for cutting.

Before placing the sentiment, I attached a piece of Gingham Ribbon using Tear&Tape. The scissors you see are not the ones I used to cut out the friends. This is a stamp from Crafting Forever, which was cut with my Paper Snips.

I hope my friendship card was inspiring. I’d love to see what you create, so please join in the fun at the Paper Players card challenge.

The Gingham Ribbon, Quilt Top embossing folder, and Twinkle Twinkle DSP are retiring. So, order now, while supplies last. Thanks for shopping!

Welcome to the Pals August, 2018 Blog Hop. We love to cut it out, so this month our creations feature our favorite “cuts” using punches, Framelits and Thinlits from the current Stampin’ Up! catalog.
You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
Cutting paper has always been an activity I enjoyed. When I was a child, I had boxes of paper dolls. I didn’t particularly want to play with the dolls, but I loved cutting out their clothes. I also loved putting together jigsaw puzzles, and today’s project combines the two.

Love You to Pieces
Until joining Stampin’ Up! two and a half years ago, I had no idea what cutting tools I’d been missing. Scissors, I knew, but the Stampin’ Trimmer and Big Shot opened up a whole new world.
The first step for today’s project was using the Stampin’ Trimmer to cut a piece of 8 1/2 X 11″ Thick Very Vanilla cardstock in half. Folding one of the halves in half, gave me my 4 1/4 X 5 1/2″ card base.
Second, I used the Stampin’ Trimmer to cut a layer of Regular Very Vanilla cardstock, measuring 4 X 5 1/4″. I rolled this layer through the Big Shot with the Quilt Top embossing folder to give it some nice texture.

The focal point of my card is the beautiful, jig saw puzzle heart. When I saw the Puzzle Pieces die set in the new annual catalog in April, it was an instant favorite. I couldn’t wait to start cutting with it!
The floral paper I used for the heart is Petal Promenade. The full 12 X 12″ sheets are absolutely gorgeous. But, as you can see, I didn’t hesitate to start chopping it up. I sliced a section with the Stampin’ Trimmer, and then ran this through the Big Shot with the heart die from Puzzle Pieces.
The die cuts a heart into four puzzle pieces. Isn’t that amazing? I triple layered the pieces, so they have the thickness of a real jig saw puzzle.

I wanted the heart to stand out, so I continued surrounding it with Very Vanilla. A Stitched Shapes die was used to cut the square where the heart is resting. I know I have many favorites, but the Stitched Shapes dies (4 Squares, 4 Circles and 4 Ovals) are the ones that get the most use. Everyone seems to adore how they cut those perforations.
“We just fit” is one of the creative, puzzle appropriate, sentiments in the Love You To Pieces stamp set, and I stamped it in Crumb Cake ink.
Before Gluing everything in place, I tied Linen Thread around the embossed panel. I’d already cut into this paper, so I decorated the envelope flap with a piece that’s 5 3/4 X 2 1/4″.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you like how this turned out, and remember to have fun cutting!

Welcome to April Highlights. This month’s theme is “babies.”
I love pastel colors and stuffed animals, so my idea developed quickly.
This adorable bunny from the Sweet Little Something Stamp Set looks like she was photographed, doesn’t she?
This was done with a 3-step stamping process. That just means you have three stamps that you ink in three colors, and stamp one on top of the other. I started with the most detailed bunny stamp in the darkest color, Chocolate Chip. Next, the medium detailed stamp in Crumb Cake, and last, the stamp without detail, in Sahara Sand. Magically, a fuzzy bunny appears!
I cut her out by hand, which is called fussy cutting, and she was ready for her stage.

Sweet Little Something
Every baby needs soft, pretty quilts, so I thought of the Quilt Top Textured Embossing Folder, and embossed a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock. Prior to embossing, I cut a peek-a-boo hole with a Layering Circle Die. I really like how half of these circle dies have scalloped edges.
For the background, I found a pretty, Powder Pink piece of Fresh Florals Paper to layer on the Thick Whisper White card base. Then, I raised the white, embossed quilt on top, using Adhesive Strips.

The precious, little flowers are from the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set, and cut with the Bouquet Bunch Die Set. I stamped 3 flowers in Daffodil Delight, 4 flowers in Blushing Bride, and 14 leaves in Pear Pizzazz. After die cutting and gluing, I embellished the flowers with tiny, little pearls, because Bunny made a special request. She also said she wanted to say, “hello,” and the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set had the perfect, little tag.
I decorated the envelope with another Powder Pink print from Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper. And, I photographed it on another, so you are seeing three of the four.

I wanted to complete the inside, so this baby card would be ready to welcome a baby girl into the world. The Sweet Little Something Stamp Set has the perfect pun for a sentiment, “Sweet little somebunny.” The little bow is from the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set, and cut with it’s die from the Bouquet Bunch Die Set.

In case you didn’t know, this bunny likes boys too, and here’s a card to prove it. He fit within this Layering Circle Die, so no fussy cutting needed, and I made his blanket with the Cable Knit Embossing Folder.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my projects.
I’m so happy you paid me a visit. Thank you!

It took me two seconds to decide which Tic Tac Toe direction I would go in the Paper Players new challenge. The middle row across (Christmas, die-cut/punch, wreath) would be my choice. I’d been wanting to use the Stampin’ Blends to color the wreath in the Feeling of Christmas stamp set, so this would work out perfectly.

I stamped the wreath in Tranquil Tide on regular weight Whisper White card stock, and selected the Stampin’ Blends. I used Light and Dark Old Olive and Dark Bermuda Bay for the leaves, Dark Cherry Cobbler for the berries and bow, and Light Daffodil Delight for the lights.
I’m near-sighted, but wore reading glasses in order to get the precise “dot, dot, dot” in the tiny leaves. It was worth it, watching this delicate wreath come to life.

After congratulating myself for the patience it took to color the wreath, I cut the wreath with a circle die, intending to place this on the Garden Green card base.
I wasn’t happy with the look, so I glued the circle on a Whisper White card front. Don’t ask me why, but I decided to add texture to my card front with the Quilt Top Textured embossing folder.
I was taking a chance on obscuring the leaves of my wreath after all of my careful coloring. Was I relieved when it came through the Big Shot looking as I was hoping it would!

For the sentiment, I used the die cut word “merry” from Christmas Greetings, and doubled it for dimension. “Christmas” is from the same Feeling of Christmas stamp set, which is a rubber stamp. I colored the word with a Stampin’ Write marker, and used the small die from At Home for cutting.
I ran this through the Big Shot using the embossing folder, careful to match the pattern. HINT: I stamped “Christmas” several times before getting one I liked without the bottom of the “f” and “g” from the word above.

Christmas wreaths make such pretty cards. Thank you for the inspiration, Paper Players!

Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for September 2017. This month our theme is “Halloween.” You may be starting the blog hop here, Aromas and Art– Su Mohr, or you may have come from another person in the list. The full line-up below will help you stay on track, so you don’t miss any of the fabulous projects being shared today.
When I think of Halloween, I think of going to a pumpkin patch, and picking out a pumpkin. This led me to thinking about making a patchwork quilt; a paper one, of course! I’ll show you the end result of all that thinking, and then I’ll back up and fill you in on the details.

It was easy to zero in on the pumpkin print Designer Series Paper from the Painted Harvest collection. The back side of the paper had a print that would work well “stitched” together with the pumpkins.
I’m not a seamstress, but I love making paper quilts using the Quilt Builder Framelits Dies. Can you see how I cut the star shape from the patterned paper, and the frame in Chocolate Chip brown? For the shapes around the pumpkins, I just turned the pieces over, and the tiny squares were revealed.

The design is basically the same as a card I recently shared using postage stamps.

Labor Day Quilts for Three Occasions
I chose a coordinating paper from the same, Painted Autumn DSP, and glued the frame to it. It’s really fun placing the pieces inside the frame, like a jig saw puzzle. Once all the pieces were glued down, I ran it through the Big Shot using the Quilted Texture Embossing Folder. Doesn’t it look like soft fabric?

I love the little spool that comes in the die set. I used Chocolate Chip cardstock, and wound it with Linen Thread. The needle was cut from Silver Foil.

Just in case there are any questions about this being a Halloween Card, I found “Happy Halloween” in the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch. I popped it up on dimensionals, and it serves a second purpose of holding the thread in place.
Would you like to peek at the inside? With the help of the Pick a Pumpkin stamp set, my pumpkins became jack-o-lanterns!

For a final touch, I embossed the envelope flap. The quilting shows up nicely on the Very Vanilla envelope, don’t you think?
