Baby Bear had been sitting on the shelf, waiting his turn. And, not so patiently, I might add. He wanted me to put down the cat, saying I had promised to make a baby quilt featuring him, and not “that darn cat.” His words, not mine. I keep my promises, or at least I try to, so I’ll explain how I managed to get him stitched here.

The Baby Bear stamp set has three stamps that you stamp one on top of the other. I started with the one with the most detail in the darkest brown, Chocolate Chip. Next, medium detail with Crumb Cake, and last, the smooth surface stamp in the lightest color, Sahara Sand.
I stamped him on Very Vanilla cardstock, and used the Quilt Builder Framelits Dies to cut him apart, so I could stitch him back together within the frame. Baby Bear found a piece of Designer Series Paper for his quilt. I agreed it was perfect, even though it was from last season.
He held his breath when I rolled him through the Big Shot with the Quilt Top Texture embossing folder. He survived, said he liked honey, and chose “hello there honey bear!” from A Little Wild stamp set for the sentiment.

I die cut the sentiment with a Stitched Shape square, and placed it on dimensionals on top of a little, ivory ribbon tied around the bottom. This layer was glued to a Soft Sky card base.
I’ve always loved the words, “Welcome to the world!,” on a baby card, and there they were in the Baby Bear stamp set.

Inspiration for creating cards is all around us, and The Tic Tac Toe challenge is a favorite. Rosanne Mulhern, this week’s featured designer, and I chose the same row (baby-die-cut/punch-embossing), and used many of the same elements. You should check out her adorable card, which is definitely for a girl.

My card was made with a boy in mind, and also fits the challenge that began at the Sisterhood of Crafters with the theme, “what makes you say, Oh boy!” Debbie Mageed (a designer at the Sisterhood) and I had the same idea, and Baby Bear is making himself known!

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I know Baby Bear appreciates the attention.

This Christmas tree from the Santa’s Sleigh die set adorned many of my cards last year, but it has been reborn with postage stamps. They happen to be 13 cent United States Christmas stamps from 1976.

The design for my card was inspired by Global Design Project’s challenge.

I used Always Artichoke for the card base, layered with striped Designer Series Paper, and Whisper White, embossed with the Quilt Top Textured embossing folder.

I chose Linen Thread to tie around the bottom, before gluing it all together.

I’m having fun with postage stamps that have been stashed away in a box. Click on my postage stamp bird for more details:

What do you do when UPS delivers a box from Stampin’ Up? You tear it open as fast as you can, and make a card! That’s what I did anyway. And the first thing I reached for was our new Cat Punch. With the colors of the Fab Friday Challenge #118 in mind, my cat became a Melon Mambo Calico Cat.

I was also anxious to use the Quilt Top Textured embossing folder, and rolled it through the Big Shot with Whisper White cardstock. I decided to layer that on a Flirty Flamingo card base, and Lemon Lime Twist would be for the sentiment and plants. Aren’t the plants adorable? They are in the Pick a Pumpkin Bundle, and they come with dies to cut them out.
There’s also a fabulous plant die without a stamp that I didn’t use, but don’t overlook it. Jack-o-lanterns are my favorite part of Halloween, so this set was at the top of my list. My husband carves a pumpkin every year, without fail.
Since the embossed quilt had circles, I decided to use the Stitched Shapes Circles for the cat, and the sentiment. I stamped the plants and sentiment (“have a Magical Birthday” from the Magical Mermaid stamp set) in Lemon Lime Twist, and die cut the plants.

Three Glitter Enamel Dots were the final touch for my whimsical card. Thank you, Fab Friday, for the inspiration with these colors.

I love to read your comments! Let me know if there is a color or pattern you would like to see for my cat on future cards. Or, if you’d like to make your own cats, I can help you order.
