Welcome to the Kre8tors January 2018 Blog Hop. Our theme this month is “Occasions Catalog,” featuring projects highlighting the wonderful array of new products. Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
Waterfront is a fabulous new stamp set in the Occasions 2018 Catalog. From the samples I’ve seen, it has to be one of the favorites. It can turn you into a watercolor artist with the sixteen stamps provided in the set.
I “painted” this scene with four stamps in the set, using six colors of ink: Marina Mist (ocean), Powder Pink, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red (sunset) Daffodil Delight (sun), and Crumb Cake (sand). I wanted to place this scene in a circle, and used a Stitched Shape Die for cutting.
Living in San Diego, I know how relaxing it is to watch a sunset from the beach. My comfortable Adirondack chair was made with Thick Whisper White “wood” and a Seasonal Layers Die. Before placing it on the layer of Sahara Sand cardstock, I stamped some sand, embossed it with the Ruffled embossing folder, tied some Linen Thread around, and cut a peephole (Layering Circles Dies) for viewing the sunset.
I needed the Sahara Sand layer to be sturdy, because I wanted to raise it on Adhesive Strips. So, I glued it to Thick Whisper White, and cut another hole, adding a nice, little frame for my scene.
I completed my restful day by writing “thanks” (retired Greetings die) in the sand.
In case you missed the first card I created with the Waterfront stamp set, it also takes place on a sandy beach. The cute, little palm trees are featured on this one.
Thanks for visiting my blog. Now hop on along to enjoy the other fabulous projects.
Just discovered your blog yesterday and subscribed immediately. I’ve been wending my way through earlier posts and it’s been a blast!
This card is amazing on so many levels….awesome layout/design, creative use of sand/ground stamp from Waterfront, pleasing mix of textures and colors. My very favorite this about this card is the way you used the Ruffle EF to mimic waves. This is brilliant!!! I’ve had this EF for months and have never found a way to use effectively on a card. Thanks for the inspiration!
