Welcome to the Kreators October Blog Hop, where the theme is “Fall.” Living in San Diego, I don’t get to see a huge number of trees with colorful leaves, so I created a Thanksgiving card with a brilliant display.

Fall Leaves

My leaves were made with See A Silhouette Designer Paper and Nature’s Roots Dies. The red, yellow, and orange design in the paper was perfect for the idea in my mind. I used the dies to cut four large leaves, four smaller leaves, and then the coordinating, embossing dies, to create the veins on the leaves.

For the background, I cut  some woodgrain paper from Pressed Petals DSP with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die. Then, I backed it with cardstock, and embossed it with the Subtle Texture Folder, to give it a “real” appearance. The same, woodgrain DSP was used for the branches, which I cut with a Seasonal Layers Die.

After attaching the leaves with Dimensionals, I glued the branches on top. I “gathered them together” with  Burlap Ribbon, tied in the middle with Linen Thread.

TIP: I use Liquid Glue to attach my bows, so they stay in place. I’ve tried Glue Dots, but they always seem to wobble.

Since this is a Thanksgiving card, I like the analogy of gathering leaves and gathering people, so this sentiment is just right! “Gather together & give thanks” is from the Painted Harvest Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede Ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock, and cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die.
