Nearly all the cards I make are 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″, but this one is square, 4 1/4″ X 4 1/4″.
I began with a 4″ X 4″ square of Wrapped In Plaid Designer Paper. Then, I gave it some texture with the Subtle Textured Embossing Folder to make it look even more like fabric.

Gold Tree on Plaid
Before adhering the square, “fabric” to the Crumb Cake card base, I used a Be Mine Stitched Die to give a scalloped edge to all four sides. And, I tied some Linen Thread around it, shredding the ends
TIP: I backed it with Crumb Cake Cardstock to give it thickness, cut I/8″ smaller, so it wouldn’t be visible.

Next, I used the Pine Tree Punch to cut a Gold Foil Christmas tree, and gave it the Subtle Textured treatment also.

Last, but not least, the sentiment. “Very Merry!” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler Ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die.

I was inspired by the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.
I’m excited to report that Stampin’ Up’s new, improved Paper Trimmer is now available! I love the clean cut it gives, and makes measuring, and scoring, a breeze. It’s the starting point for every card I make.
