For today’s project, I decided to make my first, square card, 4 1/4″ X 4 1/4″. And, why not keep it clean & simple?

Circle in a Square

The challenge at Freshly Made Sketches was my inspiration.

After cutting the Thick Whisper White, card base, I cut a 4″ X 4″ square from regular Whisper White cardstock for layering. Before gluing it to the card base, I wrapped a piece of Flax Ribbon around the middle, adhering it with Tear&Tape.

Keeping it simple, I used a Layering Circles Die to cut a circle from the beautiful Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. Then, I cut a slightly larger, scalloped circle, from Soft Suede Cardstock to give the circle of DSP a border. This was fastened in the middle of my square, card front, with Dimensionals.

For the sentiment, I used “hello” from the Free As A Bird stamp set, stamped in Soft Suede Ink, and cut with the smallest, Stitched Nested Label Die. I placed it on Dimensionals, and my square, clean & simple, card was complete.

I’ll be making more square cards, and this size is really nice, because it fits in our medium envelopes.
