It arrived! The new Carols of Christmas stamp set. I couldn’t wait to try it out with the Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies. My first card for the holiday season was born.

I was anxious to try this die cut border, so grabbed a piece of 4″ X 5 1/4″ Whisper White card stock. I first cut the bottom half, then flipped it to the top half, making a complete rectangle. Isn’t it beautiful? And, great for many occasions, not just Christmas. Next, I stamped the precious deer in Chocolate Chip ink, figuring I couldn’t go wrong with that color. He stamped perfectly, even his delicate legs, and it was fun cutting him out with the die. I decided his backdrop would be the two trees, which I cut from a piece of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper. Doesn’t it look like snow? Next, “Peace on Earth” was stamped in Tranquil Tide and a Stitched shape die was used for cutting. A Layering Squares die of Tranquil Tide was glued beneath it. I wanted the card to have a “woodsy” feel, so decided on Chocolate Chip for the card base. I was excited to see the way it made the border stand out.

My card was almost complete, but needed a pop of color, and ribbon would do the trick. I threaded it through an opening in the border, adhered with Tear Tape across the front, and taped the ends to the back. The art piece was glued to the card base, and sentiment, trees and deer were popped up on dimensionals.

I’ve just begun to explore this Carols of Christmas Bundle. Let’s see, how many days until Christmas?

Lovely easy card to make thank you
This is such a beautiful card! I agree…I think the ribbon is a lovely addition and really does make the card pop. I can’t seem to place it though. Would you mind sharing?
Thank you, Terry! It’s the 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon in Watermelon Wonder, p. 178 of the 2016-17 annual catalog.
I’m trying to find the card front builder thinlets also. Is this a current stampin up product?

Sometimes it’s hard to see the detailing in photographs, but this one really pops. The red ribbon is a really nice touch. This one might be one of my favorites.
Thank you Katey! I’ll try to remember to send you this one for Christmas. XOXO
