Calypso Coral Bow

I stamped the bird in Bermuda Bay Ink on a “splotch” made with Coastal Cabana Ink and a stamp from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set. What an easy way to color!

Next, I used the largest, Stitched ShapesCircle Die for cutting. I layered the circle with Cardstock for dimension, rather than using Dimensionals.

The background is Whisper White Cardstock, embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder, glued to a Thick Whisper White card base.

Prior to embossing, I stamped the sentiment from the Honey Bee Stamp Set in Bermuda Bay Ink. I love how it’s curved, and I was able to shape it on the Acrylic Block to fit the shape of the circle.

How do you like the bow? It began as “white” Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, which I turned into Calypso Coral ribbon by MAGIC. Truthfully, I used a Sponge Dauber and Calypso Coral Ink, and pulled the ribbon through it. I let it dry for a bit, tied a double bow, and attached it with Liquid Glue. You can check out this ribbon, and all my supplies, in my Product List below.

A few Iridescent Sequins were the final touch.

My colors are from Paper Players.

I’m also playing along with Global Design Project.

Mountain Air for the Kre8tors Blog Hop

This month’s theme for the Kreator’s Blog Hop is “monochromatic green.”

I really enjoyed this requirement, because green is one of my favorite colors, and I like creating with one color.

Green Mountains

Nature always looks good in green, so I began with the Mountain Air Stamp Set. I stamped one plain mountain range in Pear Pizzazz Ink, and a second one in Mossy Meadow Ink, on Whisper White Cardstock. Then, I used a Majestic Mountain Die for cutting. In addition, I cut the sides of the mountain ranges with the largest, Stitched Rectangles Die.

Next, I stamped the row of trees in Mossy Meadow Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and used its die for cutting. This die cuts along the top of the trees, while leaving the bottom uncut. I left a couple inches below the trees, and used the largest, Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting the sides and bottom.

Once I had my three Majestic Mountain die-cuts, I arranged them on Whisper White Cardstock that I cut with the largest, Stitched Rectangles Die, and embossed with the Subtle Textured Embossing Folder. I glued the mountains flat, and raised the tree portion on Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the Timeless Tulips Stamp Set, “What a difference one single life makes.” I used two Ornate Frames Dies for cutting the sentiment and the frame.

For a little sparkle, I tossed on a few Snowflake Sequins.

The sentiment is continued on the inside with “happy birthday,” also from the Timeless Tulips stamp set.  And, I decorated the inside with a favorite Majestic Mountains tree, cut from Old Olive Cardstock.

Finally, I decorated the envelope flap with a stripe from Peaceful Poppies Designer Paper.

TIP: Cut a piece of DSP 5 3/4″ by 2 1/4″, add a thin line of Liquid Glue around the edge of the flap, attach the DSP, and trim the excess using the flap as a template.

Dog & Cat Friends

Today’s card is all about friendship.

Friends

Remember the poem about the gingham dog and calico cat? In case you don’t, here it is:

The gingham dog and the calico cat

Side by side on the table sat;

‘T was half-past twelve, and (what do you think!)
Nor one nor t’ other had slept a wink!
The old Dutch clock and the Chinese plate
Appeared to know as sure as fate
There was going to be a terrible spat.
            (I was n’t there; I simply state
What was told to me by the Chinese plate!)

The gingham dog went “Bow-wow-wow!”
And the calico cat replied “Mee-ow!”
The air was littered, an hour or so,
With bits of gingham and calico,
While the old Dutch clock in the chimney-place
Up with its hands before its face,
For it always dreaded a family row!
(Now mind: I’m only telling you
What the old Dutch clock declares is true!)

The Chinese plate looked very blue,
And wailed, “Oh, dear! what shall we do!”
But the gingham dog and the calico cat
Wallowed this way and tumbled that,
      Employing every tooth and claw
In the awfullest way you ever saw—
And, oh! how the gingham and calico flew!
            (Don’t fancy I exaggerate—
I got my news from the Chinese plate!)

Next morning, where the two had sat
They found no trace of dog or cat;
And some folks think unto this day
That burglars stole that pair away!
But the truth about the cat and pup
Is this: they ate each other up!
Now what do you really think of that!
(The old Dutch clock it told me so,
And that is how I came to know.)

It’s not a happy tale, so Dog Punch and Cat Punch wanted you to know that they are best friends. I agreed to put them on a card together as proof.

The dog is Rococo Rose gingham, punched from In-Color 6X6 DSP. The cat isn’t exactly calico, but punched from dotted, Peaceful Poppies DSP.

For the background, they chose a heart from Peaceful Poppies DSP, cut with a Be Mine Stitched Die. The heart is glued to Whisper White Cardstock, cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die to match the stitching on the heart, and layered on a Thick Whisper White card base.

This perfect sentiment was found in the Crafting Forever Stamp Set.

Maybe it would be a different story if they were made of fabric. However, in paper, they are “cut out to be friends.”

Dog Punch and Cat Punch are excited to enter their card in the Make My Monday challenge, “in the pink.”

Confetti Masculine Birthday Card

Today’s masculine birthday card began with the sentiment from the So Sentimental Stamp Set, “This calls for confetti!”

By Su Mohr for Seize the B’day; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: So Sentimental Stamp Set, Peaceful Moments Stamp Set, Painted Labels Dies, Bird Ballad DSP, Corrugated embossing; #birthdaycards #masculinecards #masculinebirthday #confetti #birthdayconfetti #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting

Confetti!

Colorful confetti made me think of the stripe from Bird Ballad Designer Paper. So, I added Thick Whisper White Cardstock to the stripe, cut it with a Stitched Rectangles Die, and embossed it with the Corrugated Embossing Folder.

The colors really popped against black, so I used Basic Black Cardstock for the card base. Besides, men like black, right?

I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and cut it with a Layering Circles Die. This circle fit perfectly within the circle made with a Painted Labels Die. You can see I used the same stripe for cutting this fun, swirly circle.

On the inside, I stamped “Happy Birthday” from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set, and stamped confetti from the So Sentimental Stamp Set. The colors of ink I used for the confetti are the same as in the Bird Ballad stripe, and named in my Product List below.

I’m sharing with Seize the Birthday, where the sentiment is the focal image.

Bird Ballad “It’s Your Day!”

If you start with beautiful Designer Paper, it’s easy to make a card you will love. This Bird Ballad DSP remains a favorite.

By Su Mohr for cts; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Bird Ballad DSP, Under My Umbrella Stamp Set, Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, Ornate Frames Dies, Layering Circles Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies; #

It’s Your Day!

I began by cutting a 4 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ section of DSP, careful to have three full birds, and one that I could place in a circle.

Next, I cut Whisper White Cardstock, the same size, and glued the two together. Then, I used the largest Stitched Rectangle Die for cutting, giving me even edges, and well placed birds.

Before gluing my DSP to the Thick Whisper White card base, I used a Layering Circles Die to cut the pink bird from the DSP. Then, I used a Layering Circles Die with a scalloped edge, to cut a backing for the pink bird, from Thick Whisper White Cardstock.

I also taped Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon to the back, and tied a double bow on the front.

“It’s your day!” is from the Under My Umbrella Stamp Set, stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die.

My inspiration was from CAS(E) this sketch.

Silhouette Scenes: Joy of Swinging

Do you remember how it feels to swing? You can see the joy in this barefoot girl from the Silhouette Scenes Stamp Set.

By Su Mohr for FMS; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Silhouette Scenes Stamp Set, Special Someone Stamp Set, Ornate Frames Dies, Pearl Jewels, Perennial Essence DSP, Banner Triple Punch; #swinging #silhouettesoncards #silhouettescenes #birthdaycards #pearls #$hostcode #bannertriplepunch #cardsketches #cardchallenges #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting

swinging

I stamped the swinging girl in Night of Navy Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and used a Layering Circles Die for cutting.

For the background  I chose Perennial Essence Designer Paper with a “dreamy” look. Don’t you love those little, floating, daisies?

Before gluing the DSP to the Thick Whisper White card base, I cut a 2” section from the left side. Next, I backed this with cardstock for thickness, and used the Banner Triple Punch to cut the nice, even, ends. Then, I raised it on Foam Adhesive Strips for interest.

“Happy Birthday” is from the Special Someone Stamp Set, which was the right font and size for the Ornate Frames Die. I stamped it in Night of Navy Ink on Thick Whisper White Cardstock.

This photo also highlights the pearls, one of my favorite embellishments, and my Host Code gift for March.

Freshly Made Sketches was my inspiration.

Since pearls are a favorite of mine, they are my gift to you for the month of March. When you order a minimum of $50.00 in March, and use my Host Code #JTDHJ36F, I will send you 140 pearls in April. Yipee!

Thank you for stopping by. Let’s make March a wonderful month!
