It’s time for another masculine birthday card, and men like “woodsy” things, right?

In the Woods
First, I embossed Whisper White Cardstock with the Woodland Embossing Folder. Before gluing this embossed layer to a Thick Whisper White card base, I tied, knotted and frayed, green, Linen Thread around the bottom.

My layout was determined by this week’s Global Design Project.

The Rooted in Nature Stamp Set and Nature’s Roots Dies provided just what I needed to go along with my Woodland embossing.
I stamped the tree ring in Soft Suede Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock, and used Paper Snips to cut it by hand. Three stamps from Rooted In Nature were used for the foliage, which I stamped in Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede Ink on Vellum Cardstock.
TIP: Give the ink extra time to dry on the Vellum before cutting the foliage with Nature’s Roots Dies. (Dies are shown in the first picture).
After cutting the foliage from the Vellum, I glued the ends of the foliage to the back of the tree ring, added Dimensionals to the tree ring, and positioned it on the card front.

All I needed was “happy birthday,” which I found in the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede Ink on Thick Whisper White Cardstock, and used the Classic Label Die for cutting.
At the last minute, I added three Pear Pizzazz Enamel Dots. The dots are retired, but if you place an order with me, I will send you some.

Thank you for visiting me “in the woods.” I hope this gives you inspiration for masculine cards. Keep scrolling to see my Product List, and thank you for shopping with me!

Today’s card features a bunch of tropical flowers colored with the “ink to stamp” technique.

Bunch of Kindness
My inspiration was from the Fusion Challenge: a sketch, bright colors and a sentiment of “kindness.”

The first thing I did was search for a sentiment expressing kindness, and found this one from the Waterfront Stamp Set. I stamped it in Memento Black Ink on Thick Whisper White Cardstock, and used a Stitched Shapes Oval Die for cutting.
“Every little kindness makes the world brighter” fit nicely at the top of the largest oval. Then, I placed the oval on Dimensionals on Whisper White Cardstock, embossed with the Basket Weave Embossing Folder. I used the “debossed” side, and glued it to a Thick Whisper White card base.

Now, for the “ink to stamp” coloring technique. Gather several Stampin’ Write Markers in colors that you want to use for the flowers. Simply, use the brush end of the Marker to color part of the stamp, adding a second and third color to the uncolored areas of the stamp. Some overlapping will happen, and this creates even more varying shades. I love the watercolored effect of this technique.
The Tropical Dies Set has a die for cutting the flowers, and they were placed on Dimensionals for a 3D bunch of flowers.

I wanted die-cut, 3D, ferns, so a different coloring method came into play, but still using Stampin’ Write Markers.
Stripes of green were painted across Thick Whisper White Cardstock, and then three ferns were cut with the die from the Tropical Dies Set.
I could have used solid green cardstock, but I like the variation in color that this creates.
This picture makes it clear:

Thanks a bunch for stopping by! Have fun with your Stampin’ Write Markers. I didn’t take the time to picture the Stampin’ Write Markers in my Product List, but they are available at my store.

The Dino Days Bundle makes such cute cards, and it’s perfect for welcoming newborns.

“look who’s hatched”
I haven’t seen a dinosaur egg lately, but I’m pretty sure it looks like this one made of Sparkle Glimmer Paper. The hinge for opening the egg is an In-Color (Seaside Spray) Faceted Dot.
The newborn, who is popping out of the egg, is from the Dino Days stamp set, stamped in Seaside Spray ink on Thick Whisper White Cardstock. I used his die from the Dino Dies set for cutting, as well as a die for the Granny Apple Green plates on his back. This baby comes prepared!

For the background, I layered the Seaside Spray card base with Granny Apple Green, Whisper White, and In-Color 6X6 DSP. All are cut with Stitched Rectangles Dies, making it very easy, because you don’t have to measure.

The sentiment in the Dino Days stamp set is just perfect, “look who’s hatched.” How cute is that!?
TIP: I used a Stitched Rectangles Die for the sentiment also. Start with the size that fits horizontally, and turn it around to make the vertical cut.

Happy Sunday, everyone! It’s that time again for another Paper Players Design Team project. Today’s card has several rectangles, and lots of Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.

Here’s the sketch:

The first thing was deciding on my focal point, which would be one of the beautiful birds, fussy cut from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. Next, I layered a floral print from the same DSP on a Petal Pink card base and topped that with Whisper White Cardstock, cut with a Rectangles Stitched Die. For added texture, the white layer was embossed with Layered Leaves.

The vertical rectangle was made with dotted Bird Ballad DSP, embossed with the Eyelet Lace Embossing Folder, and given scalloped ends with a Be Mine Stitched Die.
My fussy cut bird is perched on a frame, made with two Stitched Rectangle Dies and Petal Pink Cardstock.
TIP: Place one die inside the other, and cut at the same time.

The sentiment, “fabulous at any age,” is from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp set, which I cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangle Die.
TIP: Turn the die around for a second cut to make a shorter label.
Last, but not least, embellishment! I knotted a small piece of the beautiful, Petal Pink, Organdy Ribbon, attaching it with a Glue Dot. And, a Petal Pink, Frosted Flower draws your eye to the sentiment.

The Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog must be making me think months ahead, because today’s card is birds in a Winter Woodland Scene.

Woodland Birds
I began by fussy cutting the two birds from Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. Then, I used two Layering Circles Dies to cut a circle of dotted Sahara Sand DSP, and a scalloped circle of Champagne Foil.
This dot is from retired 6X6 DSP, but there are four, new patterns in every Stampin’ Up! color, available now. You can click on the picture in my Product List for details.

Next, I chose a Thick Whisper White card base, topped with Whisper White, embossed with the Woodland Embossing Folder. I tied a strand of Linen Thread around it, thinking the birds would like this to build their nest.

The two birds and subtle colors drew me to the sentiment, “I’m here for you,” from Itty Bitty Greetings. The sentiment fit perfectly in the label from the Merry Christmas Die Set, which I balanced on a tree branch.
White sequins were the final touch to add some sparkle.

My layout was inspired by CAS(E) this sketch.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope my winter scene is refreshing for those of you who are hot this weekend!

Today’s card has lots of white space (literally), a carved heart and tiny foil dots.

Carved Wood Heart
This week’s Freshly Made Sketch was my inspiration.

I began with a Thick Whisper White card base, layered with Whisper White that I cut with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die.
The heart was cut with a Be Mine Stitched Die from wood (it’s really paper) in the Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper pack.
When my husband saw this card, he said, “Nice card, is it for me?” So, this qualifies it as a masculine card, and my theory holds true: anytime wood is used, it’s a masculine card.

Beneath the heart is a branch, cut with a die from In the Woods, a carry-over set from last season’s Holiday Catalog.
The dots are made with the Handheld 1/16th Inch Punch and Noble Peacock Foil Sheets, which comes in the three colors you see in the dots.
TIP: The dots are saved within the punch, so they don’t pop all over your work space. Place a tiny pin dot of glue where you want a dot. Then, pick up the dot, put it on the glue, and tap gently with a pin. Reading glasses help!

My clean & simple, masculine card, is complete, with a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings, and cut with a Merry Christmas Label Die.
Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!
