Today’s design is a Laser-Cut wreath, suitable for a guy’s birthday card.

Birthday Wreath
The sketch from Fab Friday was my inspiration for today’s card.

This pretty wreath of leaves is from the Shimmer Laser-Cut Designer Paper. I used a Layering Circles Die for cutting, and colored it with Pear Pizzazz and Garden Green inks. The “shimmer” is faint, but you can still see it after coloring.

The other foliage is from the Bouquet Bunch Die Set. I cut two branches from Thick Whisper White Cardstock, one from Noble Peacock Foil, and one from Soft Suede Cardstock.

The rectangle in the sketch is burlap (paper) from Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper.

This “Happy Birthday” from the Piece of Cake Stamp Set is one of my most used sentiments. The font is great, and it fits perfectly in the Classic Label Punch.
For some extra sparkle, I added a bow of Copper Trim, and Iridescent Sequins.

Welcome! Do you wish you were this swinging girl, enjoying her day?

Swinging
A single layer of Whisper White Cardstock on a Coastal Cabana card base, along with just three colors of ink, makes this #simplestamping in my mind.

The three colors are: Coastal Cabana, Melon Mambo, and Gorgeous Grape, inspired by TGIF’s color challenge.

First, I used an oval from the Shimmer Detailed Laser-Cut Paper as a stencil, sponge daubing Coastal Cabana Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. My Sponge Dauber must have had another color in it, but I like the accidental two-tone effect.

Then, using Gorgeous grape Ink, I stamped the swinging girl from Silhouettte Scenes inside the oval.
For the third color, I stamped the tree branch from Butterfly Wishes in Melon Mambo Ink. Doesn’t this give the impression the girl is swinging from a tree?

To keep things simple, I stamped “Enjoy Today” right across the oval. I just had to add that little Melon Mambo Enamel Heart!

Thank you for stopping by. Enjoy today!

Welcome to the Paper Player’s first challenge in August, where the theme is “Back to School.” Since teachers are hard at work, weeks before students arrive, I’m sure they would appreciate a Thank You card.

Thank You, Teacher
The “Thank You” Die is the first thing I used to create this card. The words are cut from a piece of Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper, which gives a pretty, variation in color.
After doubling it for thickness, I glued it to a piece of 6X6 Designer Series Paper in Balmy Blue. This stripe is from a previous catalog, but there are four, new patterns in every Stampin’ Up! color, available now.
Beneath the striped DSP is a rectangle of the same Perennial Essence DSP that I used for the “thank you.” And, beneath that, is a rectangle of Whisper White Cardstock, which I layered on a Balmy Blue card base.
TIP: All of the layers are cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies, so no need for measuring.

The pen is from the Crafting Forever Stamp Set, stamped in Black Memento Ink on Thick Whisper White Cardstock. I fussy cut the pen, then colored it with Stampin’ Blends in the colors listed in my Product List.
TIP: Coloring the tiny flowers is easier than you might think. I use the brush end of a Stampin’ Blend, and touch the paper lightly. Think pin dots.

After placing the pen on Mini-Dimensionals, my Thank You card is complete.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and shopping at my store!

The Free As A Bird Stamp Set has become a favorite, and today the birds come to you “out on a limb.”

Birds on a Limb
While designing today’s card, I kept this week’s CAS(E) this sketch in my mind.

I was thrilled to discover today that my card from last week’s challenge was chosen as a winner! Here it is, in case you missed it.

Woodlands Birds
I began today’s card by stamping the birds in Soft Suede Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, fussy cutting the image, and coloring with Stampin’ Blends. These are the colors I used: Light and Dark Soft Suede, Light and Dark Old Olive, Light and Dark Calypso Coral, and Dark Cajun Craze. The Cajun Craze was for the beaks.

After this, I pondered what to use for their background, and it struck me that I hadn’t used the Buffalo Check Stamp for a while. So, I inked it up with Sahara Sand, stamped on Whisper White Cardstock, and cut it with the second largest Rectangles Stitched Die.
It was a keeper, and I glued it to a Sahara Sand card base. Oh, prior to gluing, I wrapped a piece of Petal Pink, Organdy Stripe Ribbon around it.
TIP: I use Scotch Tape to attach ribbon to the back. This makes for easy testing and removal, which I often do!

Finally, the sentiment, “Best Wishes from all of us,” something the row of birds wanted to say. It’s from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and cut with a Rectangles Stitched Die.
After gluing everything in place, I added the Petal Pink Frosted Flower. What a sweet embellishment! It comes in three colors, which you can see in my Product List below.

I’ve been wanting to make a “happy birthday to you” card with “HB2U,” so today is the day, with some changes!
Because I’m committed to using current, Stampin’ Up! product, my lettering is from the Hand-Lettered Prose Die Set, and I’m using small letters, along with “to” instead of numeral “2.”

happy birthday to you (h-b-to-u)
The card base is Thick Whisper White Cardstock, as well as the next layer, which is cut with the largest, Rectangles Stitched Die.
The next layer is hexagon patterned, See A Silhouette DSP, cut with the third largest Rectangles Stitched Die.

Here’s where the “partial eclipse” comes into play. I used an identical piece of DSP to cut the letters, so they would match the pattern, and “disappear.” I could have used the same piece of DSP, but realized the squares were a bit too small to cover the “cut-outs.” Oops!

I triple layered the letters with Thick Whisper White Cardstock, so they would have nice dimension.
TIP: Refer to the catalog for identifying the letters. It can be tricky when you first start using them.
I’m calling it a “partial eclipse,” because I made frames with a Stitched Shapes Die and Layering Squares Die, for the “h-b-to.”

This week’s Freshly Made Sketches was my inspiration, and definitely a challenge.

I made it more difficult than it had to be, but a fun process. It’s funny that this is one of my shortest Product Lists! This is a great sketch, and I’m already thinking of other ways to use it. Have a wonderful day!

It’s party time! For today’s card at Seize the Birthday, the Toppings theme is “Flowers.” As their Surprise Party Guest Designer, I wanted to make a special card, and chose a Gate Fold design.

Gate Fold Magnolia
For those of you unfamiliar with the Gate Fold, you can make two cards from one 8 1/2″ X 11″ piece of cardstock. Cutting the cardstock in half ( lengthwise at 4 1/4″) gives you two cards.
For this project, I used Petal Pink Cardstock, 4 1/4″ X 11″, scoring on each end at 2 3/4.” This makes the sides fold into the middle evenly.
I decorated the front folds with two cuts of Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper, 2 1/2″ X 4″.
The star of the show is the magnolia flower from the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set. I stamped it in Crumb Cake Ink on Thick Whisper White Cardstock, and used its Magnolia Memories Die for cutting.

It was fun to color with Stampin’ Blends in the colors named in my Product List. After coloring the flower, I layered it with Crumb Cake and Petal Pink Cardstock, making it extra thick.
Next, I glued the left half of the flower to the left side of the card front. Then, I stamped “happy birthday” from the Pieces of Cake Stamp Set, in Crumb Cake Ink, on the right side. And, I gave it a sprinkling of Iridescent Sequins.

To complete the inside, I used a Swirly Frames stamp with Petal Pink Ink to make a rectangle on the Whisper White Cardstock. The white cardstock is 5 1/4″ X 4″, and the rectangle makes a nice frame for a birthday message.

Today is an exciting day! I was up early this morning, placing my first order from the new, 2019 Holiday Catalog!
