Summer beverages “hit the spot.”

Summer Beverages

My inspiration for today’s card was Claire’s challenge for the Paper Players Design Team.

I found the cute, little “summer beverage” in the Colorful Seasons stamp set, which I stamped in four colors, and cut with its coordinating die from the Seasonal Layers Die Set. I took the colors from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper on the right side of the card: Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, and Granny Apple Green.

The green stripe is really Old Olive, but I thought Granny Apple Green would taste better.

The sentiment, “Life is a beautiful thing,” also from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set, was stamped in Memento Black Ink.

I couldn’t pass up using one of my favorite die-cuts, the Adirondack chair, so I added it in Thick Whisper White Cardstock. Besides, you need to sit down to consume all of those beverages!

I appreciate you stopping by, thank you!  Colorful Seasons and Seasonal Layers are in the new catalog, and can be ordered by clicking on the pictures in my Product List.

Come join the Paper Players, and post your “summer beverages” in our gallery. Remember to keep it CAS (clean & simple). Get more inspiration from our Design Team.

#Simplestamping Rainbow Unicorn

When I think of unicorns, I think of rainbows.

Rainbow Unicorn

The rainbow was easy to create, especially since I used the idea from a previous project. Remember my birds from earlier this month?

Rainbow Birds #simplestamping

I even used the same ink colors, which are in my Product List. Changing it up to fit the shape of the unicorn, I stamped the Geared Up Garage, “blotch” stamp, in a diagonal direction.

Next, I stamped the unicorn from Stampin’ Up’s new stamp set, Leave A Little Sparkle, in Memento Black Ink.

I love the realistic drawing of the unicorn, but I must tell you, I took some teasing from my family when describing the stamp set to them. I compared the “realistic” unicorns to the “cartoon” dinosaurs in the Dino Days stamp set.

So, dinosaurs are real and unicorns aren’t? I guess you just have to “believe,” and that’s the sentiment I chose.

To highlight the rainbow colors, I used Basic Black for the card base. And, with a stamp set title of Leave A Little Sparkle, I had to add some Iridescent Sequins.

If you would like to make your own unicorn projects, you can order this fabulous stamp set by clicking on the picture in my Product List. Thank you! I appreciate you shopping at my store!

Have an “unbelievably” good day!

Stencil Technique “Two-for-One”

I just received Stampin’ Up’s  new Shimmer Detailed Laser-Cut Paper, and I couldn’t wait to put it to use. I ended up with a “two-for-one;” two cards from one section of Designer Series Paper.

Card Number One:

Laser-Cut Blooms

Card Number Two:

Stenciled Blooms

I began with card number two, by cutting a section from the Laser-Cut DSP, and snipping the pattern free from the frame.

Next, I held the floral pattern (stencil) in place on Whisper White Cardstock, and used Sponge Daubers to apply ink to the flowers and greenery in two colors: Pineapple Punch and Granny Apple Green.

“Thanks” was cut using a Well Written Die from Thick Whisper White Cardstock, colored with a Sponged Dauber and Night of Navy Ink.

My colors were inspired by Global Design Project.

I chose Granny Apple Green for the card base, layered with Whisper White Cardstock that I embossed with the new, Eyelet Lace Embossing Folder.

My number one, Laser-Cut card, developed from the ink colored, “stencil.” I placed it on the same Eyelet Lace embossed layer, on a Granny Apple Green card base.

“Friend” is also from the Well Written Die Set, and colored in Night of Navy Ink.

I’ve always liked the look of stenciling, and it’s a fun way to use this Laser-Cut DSP. Getting two cards from the process is a bonus!

Bird Ballad for the Pals June Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals’ June  Blog Hop. We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects using “Anything with Wings.” You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Winged creatures are a favorite subject matter of mine, and I couldn’t wait to share ways to use the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.

Bird Ballad

It’s hard to beat white as a background, because it makes all the other colors pop. I embossed Whisper White Cardstock with Layered Leaves embossing, and glued this layer to a Thick Whisper White card base.

I located three, pretty, birds on a sheet of Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper that I was able to cut with a Stitched Nested Label Die, without including any surrounding birds. By choosing the right die and birds, there’s quite a few possibilities.

Next, I used my favorite Seasonal Layers die to cut a branch from Soft Suede Cardstock.

After cutting the branch in half, and planning how it would look beneath the bird’s hexagon, I glued it in place. It’s positioned to look like it’s attached to the branch in the DSP at the bottom, and the top is part of the tree. I fussy cut some leaves and blossoms from the DSP to add to the branch.

The sentiment, “We’re the best of friends,” is from the Free As A Bird stamp set, which I stamped in Soft Suede ink, and cut with a Stitched Rectangle Die.

I loved this idea so much, I quickly made a second card.

I chose birds from a different location on the Designer Series Paper, and gave them a background of Petal Pink, Bird Ballad DSP. This is the backside of the bird print.

The same Stitched Nested Labels Die was used for cutting the birds, and a Rectangle Stitched Die was used for the background DSP.

The card base is Sahara Sand, as well as the Seasonal Layers branch. This time I left the branch in one piece.

“Hello” is another sentiment from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set, and I used the Classic Label Punch for cutting.

I thought the dotted DSP called for some Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon, as a finishing touch.

Free As A Bird Bundle

Today’s project is a combination of two challenges, using the Free As A Bird Bundle.

By Su Mohr for TGIF and Fab Fri; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Free As A Brird Bundle, Free As A Bird stamp set, Stitched Nested Label Dies, Crackle Paint background stamp; #freeasabird #bundles #stampinupbundles #cardmaking #handmadecards #handcrafted #cracklepaint #birds #birdsoncards #thinkingofyou #cardchallenges

Bird Bundle

My inspiration for the layout was from Fab Friday.

And, the colors are from TGIF.

I began with a Night Of Navy card base, topped with a layer of Whisper White Cardstock. The layer is stamped with Night of Navy Ink and the Crackle Paint Background Stamp.

The bird from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set is my focal point. I stamped him in Night of Navy Ink on Pool Party Cardstock, and fussy cut with Paper Snips.

The  leaves were stamped in Granny Apple Green Ink on the same color Cardstock, and the flower was stamped in Pool Party Ink on Whisper White Cardstock.

I used Paper Snips to cut the stamped images, and arranged them on a Thick Whisper White, die-cut hexagon from the Stitched Nested Label Die Set.

The sentiment, “Thinking of you,” is from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set, and I stamped it in Night of Navy Ink.

The horizontal strip beneath the hexagon is a scrap from a Stitched Lace die-cut, which I colored with a Sponge Dauber and Granny Apple Green Ink.

For the final touch, I added three Iridescent Sequins.

Thank you for visiting me today! I’ve included the Free As A Bird Bundle in my Product List. If you order the Free As A Bird Stamp Set and Stitched Nested Labels Dies together, you save 10%.

Puzzle Pieces Heart with Lace

The stamp set being featured at What Will You Stamp? this week is Love You To Pieces. I’m, so happy that it’s being carried over into the new 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! Catalog, because the die cuts are to “die for!”

By Su Mohr for WWYS; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Love You To Pieces stamp set, Puzzle Pieces Die Set, Stitched Shapes Die Set, Magnolia Lane DSP; #loveyoutopieces #puzzlepieces #stitchedlace #magnolialane #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #2019-2020 #newcatalog #stampinup

Heart Pieces

Here’s a look at the fun images and sentiments in the stamp set. You can order it by clicking on the picture in my Product List.

I used the Puzzle Pieces heart die to cut a jigsaw heart from Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper. The black in the print seemed to call for a dramatic, black, background, and I was thrilled to use our new Stitched Lace die to cut the lace pattern.

I ran it through the die cutting machine a number of times, but you can see, nearly all of the “cut-outs” were removed.

The Basic Black Cardstock is thick, and I had to peel it, carefully, from the die.

After gluing the lace die-cut to Thick Whisper White Cardstock, I used a Stitched Shapes die to cut a square of white for the heart to rest upon.

The four pieces of heart were layered for thickness, and glued, slightly apart, so the “jigsaw” cut would be obvious.

I stamped “We just fit,” from the Love You To Pieces Stamp Set in Memento Black Ink. Three, tiny pearls were added as the final touch.

Thank you for visiting! Everything is available at my store, and I appreciate you shopping.
