Blooms on a vine

The vine was created with two stamps from the Basket Of Blooms Stamp Set. I first stamped the long branch in Garden Green Ink on Whisper White Cardstock (4″ X 5 1/4″), angled, and toward the right side. Then, I stamped it a second time, in the opposite direction, with the ends meeting in the middle. Next, I stamped the short brach three times, with all the ends meeting in the middle. Also, after inking the stamp, I stamped on scratch paper first, to make the ink a lighter shade. This is called “stamping off,” and something I do frequently.

After coloring the vine with a Light Old Olive Stampin’ Blend, I used the second largest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting the layer, and glued it to a Garden Green card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″).

It’s kinda sad to cut off part of the vine, but it creates the feeling of extending beyond the card, which is nice, right?

Now for the blooms! I stamped the flower in Melon Mambo Ink, three times, on Whisper White Cardstock, and used the Small Bloom Punch for cutting. This is really fun; too bad I only needed three! Then, I colored them with a Light Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blend, and attached them with Mini-Dimensionals. See how I covered the connecting branches in the middle?

Last, but not least, the sentiment. “Sent with love” is from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set, stamped in Garden Green Ink, and cut with the smallest Stitched So Sweetly Die. Don’t you love the shape of this die?

I think you can see how I was inspired by CAS(E) this sketch.

Bigger Than The Ocean

If you haven’t seen the Whale of a Time Designer Paper, you need to check it out in my Product List below. It really is amazing!

It’s a warm (some would say hot) day in San Diego, so an ocean themed card was a natural.

The first thing I did was cut a heart from Thick Whisper White Cardstock, using a Be Mine Stitched Die. It’s the one where the widest part is 2 1/2″. Then, I stamped the sentiment, “My love for you is bigger than the ocean,” in Pretty Peacock Ink.

The heart called for some texture, so I embossed it with the Seabed Embossing Folder, which was perfect for my ocean theme. I love how you can emboss over a sentiment, and it’s still legible.

For the background, I cut a piece of Whale of a Time Designer Paper with the largest Layering Frames Die. The seahorses are in an ocean, with a matching, Balmy Blue card base.

Next, I fussy cut the whale and turtle, also from Whale of a Time Designer Paper, and glued their “faces” to the heart. Before attaching the three to the card front, I gave the ocean some sparkle with a 4 1/2″ piece of Metallic Mesh Ribbon. Fun stuff!

The last detail was adding three sequin bubbles coming from the whale’s blowhole.

I was inspired by TGIF.

In The Pines for GDP 255

“Trees – Leaves” is the theme for this week’s Global Design Project. This inspired me to design my first Christmas card for 2020, using the In The Pines bundle.

By Su Mohr for #GDP255; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: In The Pines Stamp Set, Pinewoods Dies, Festive Corners Stamp Set, Tasteful Textile embossing, Winter Snow embossing, Stitched Triangles, Regals 6X6 Paper; #christmascards #holiday2020 #christmastrees #treesoncards #stitchedtriangles #inthepines #gdp255 #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stampinup

Pine tree time

The first thing I did was grab my Pinewoods Dies, and cut two trees from Regals 6X6 Designer Paper in Shaded Spruce. Doesn’t it look like snow on the trees?

To add snow to the background, I embossed the 4″ X 5 1/4″ Whisper White layer with the Winter Snow Embossing Folder. Then, for some woodsy contrast, I glued the layer to a Crumb Cake card base.

To use the traditional colors of red and green, I stamped the sentiment in Real Red Ink on Whisper White Cardstock.  “Most wonderful time of the year” is from the Festive Corners Stamp Set, and don’t you love the way it fits the corner? I also discovered it fits within one of the Stitched Triangles Dies. This is the largest triangle; the one with the right angle.

I cut a second, matching, Stitched Triangle, and embossed it with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, for some texture on the ground.

After gluing the triangles and trees to the Winter Snow background, my first Christmas card was complete.

A Heart-Shaped Leaf

What do you do with a heart-shaped leaf? You feature it in a garden of love!

By Su Mohr; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Festive Corners Stamp Set, Plaid Tidings Paper, Well Written Dies, Stitched Leaves Dies; #stitchedleaves #leaves #leavesoncards #heartsoncards #festivecorners #cornersentiments #loveofleaves #plaidpaper #heartshapedleaves #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #papercrafting #cardmaking

Garden of Love

When I first saw the Love Of Leaves Bundle in the August-December 2020 Catalog, I noticed this cute, heart-shaped leaf. I couldn’t wait to stamp it in Real Red Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, cut it with its Stitched Leaves Die, and use the additional die for stitching.

The Stitched Leaves Die Set also has a very unique die, which could serve as a garden, if you use your imagination. So I rolled this “embossing die” through my die cutting machine on Whisper White Cardstock that I had cut with the second largest, Stitched Rectangles Die.

I used the largest, Stitched Rectangles Die to cut a layer of Plaid Tidings Designer Paper in black & white, to give it a fun border.

Before gluing the layers together on a Thick Whisper White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink. This stamp set, Festive Corners, is another of my favorites from the August-December 2020 Catalog.

I LOVE how I could hang (on a Dimensional) my heart from this corner sentiment.

The other tiny hearts growing in the garden were cut from Whisper White Cardstock, using a Well Written Die.

This would make a great Valentine’s Day card, but sending love is great year-round, don’t you think?

Stitched Leaves Welcome Card

The new Stitched Leaves die set is a winner, at least in my book! Leaves are beautiful on their own, but the stitched detailing in this set makes the leaves outstanding.

By Su Mohr; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Stitched Leaves Dies, Brushed Metallic Paper, Petal Pink Ribbpn, Well Written Dies, In Color Dots; #welcomecard #stitchedleaves #leavesoncards #fallcards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stampinup #loveofleaves

Stitched Leaves Welcome

I began with a Petal Pink card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ folded at 4 1/4″. It was topped with a piece of Subtles 6 X6″ Designer Paper in a Petal Pink dot. Then, I cut a piece of Cinnamon Cider Cardstock, 3 1/2″ X 4″, and used a Stitched Leaves Die to cut a hole in the middle. Notice how it leaves (pun intended) an edge of stitching. Isn’t that cool?

Next, I used the same leaf die to cut a leaf from Petal Pink Cardstock, and used its “imprint” die to add the stitching. All of the leaves in the set have their matching “imprint” dies.

I glued the leaf on an angle, so there is a peek-a-boo of the dotted paper through the hole.

A bow of the Organdy Striped Ribbon was overwhelming, but I like it simply knotted with flagged ends.

“Welcome” is from the Well Written Die Set, cut from Brushed Metallic Paper. This paper works especially well with these words, because it’s extra sturdy and flexible. It looks pretty too!

There was one final detail to complete my welcome card: three In Color Enamel Dots in Cinnamon Cider.

I was excited to make this card, because it will be going to a new member of my team, the Dream Makers. I’d love to have you join. Just click on the Stampin’ Up! button below.

Mr. & Mrs. Wedding Card

You can’t go wrong with a white and gold wedding card. Today’s design has an angled twist.

By Su Mohr; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Last A Lifetime Stamp Set, Brushed Metallic cardstock, Ornate Borders Dies, Ornate Frames Dies; #heatembossing #diecutting #ornateborders #ornateframes #weddingcards #mr.&mrs. weddings #weddingplanning #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stampinup #ornatefloralembossing

Ornate Border

How do you like this fancy border? I created it with an Ornate Borders Die and a gorgeous piece of Brushed Metallic Cardstock. This cardstock is from our new, August-December 2020 Mini Catalog, and comes in three colors. You can see details by clicking on the picture in my Products List below.

This die is 6″ long, so I put it on an angle to avoid snipping an end, and came up with an interesting looking card. The Thick Whisper White card base is 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, with the card front cut on an angle from the corner to 2 1/2″. To add some texture, I embossed the card front with the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder.

Next, I glued the gold border to my angled card front, using tiny dots of Liquid Glue. I drew a faint pencil line on the backside of the die-cut, so I would know where the glue should stop.

“To the new Mr. & Mrs.” is from the Last A Lifetime Stamp Set. If you’re making wedding cards, you need this set! I matched the sentiment to the border by using the heat embossing technique, which is simple and fun. You stamp the sentiment in VersaMark, sprinkle it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and set it with the Heat Tool. I used an Ornate Frames Die for cutting, which is attached with Dimensionals.

My card was completed with an inside layer of Whisper White Cardstock, 5 1/4″ X 4″. All of my supplies are in my Product List below.
