Today I’m making a Christmas card using a really fun Washi Tape technique. Isn’t Rudolf stunning in his coat of Washi Tape?
Washi Tape Rudolf
Follow along, if you’d like to see how I did it:
First, I found the die I wanted to use in the Dashing Deer die set. Second, I figured the approximate size of the deer on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. Third, I pulled out four rolls of Washi Tape from my stash. (There’s beautiful, new Washi tape in the Holiday catalog, which you’ll see in my supply list.) Fourth, I stuck the Washi tape in rows across the white cardstock, alternating the patterns. Fifth, I used the Dashing Deer die with the Big Shot for cutting.
Voila!
Why did I think to use Washi Tape in the first place? This week’s challenge at TGIF is a “Product Spotlight” of Washi Tape and Twine.
Washi Tape, check. For the twine, I decided to use my favorite, Linen Thread. It came in handy to tie the sentiment,”Happiest Christmas Wishes,” to the corrugated background.
The sentiment is from the Dashing Deer Stamp Set, stamped in Real Red ink on Crumb Cake cardstock. It’s cut with a label die from the Merry Christmas die set. The holes were made with a Stampin’ Up! hand held punch that was on the Clearance Rack the last time I looked.
The background was made by embossing Crumb Cake cardstock with the Corrugated embossing folder. It is layered on Real Red cardstock, which is layered on a Garden Green card base. All three received rounded corners, compliments of the Detailed Trio Punch.

Thanks for stopping by today. I’d like you to meet Frosty, from the Spirited Snowmen stamp set. How can you not smile when looking at him? He is jumping for joy at being featured on this holiday card.
Frosty the Snowman
Frosty doesn’t come with a die for cutting, but he wasn’t that difficult to fussy cut with my Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips. And, he was easy to color, because his snow packed body is already white. I used six Stampin’ Blends to color his details: Dark Real Red, Dark Pumpkin Pie, Dark Granny Apple Green, Light Pool Party, Light Bermuda Bay, and Bronze. After placing Dimensionals on his back side, he was ready to play in his scene.
NEW EMBOSSING TECHNIQUE
I used a “new to me” technique for the background, which is applying ink directly to the embossing folder before running it through the Big Shot with cardstock. First, I rubbed Pool Party ink (back of the top side) on the Softly Falling embossing folder. Then, I placed the Whisper White cardstock layer in the folder, and sent it through the Big Shot. Fun, huh?
TIP: I rinsed the embossing folder with water immediately afterward, so it would be free of ink.
Frosty was happy with the results, and it was time to make his snowdrift. This week’s CAS(E) this sketch gave me the idea for Frosty’s playground. I just flipped it around.
The Swirly Scribbles die worked out perfectly for cutting the snowdrift from Thick Whisper White cardstock. After cutting the snowdrift, I used a cotton swab to coat it with Frost White Shimmer Paint, making it sparkle. (It really does, in person).
The center cut-out from the die provided a nice spot for the sentiment, ” ‘Tis the season,” which is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.

Today’s Thanksgiving card features the same container as yesterday’s card. Yesterday, it was made of stoneware, but today it is made of tin (Galvanized Metallic Paper.) I’m holding it at an angle so you can see the shine.
Galvanized Metallic Shine
The tin container is from the Country Home stamp set, as well as the floral arrangement. I stamped the container in Black ink on the Galvanized Metallic Paper, and used Stampin’ Up’s Paper Snips for fussy cutting. Next, I stamped the arrangement in Gray Granite ink on Whisper White cardstock, and used my Stampin’ Blends for coloring.
A Stitched Shapes, oval die, was used for cutting the floral arrangement, and then I ran it through the Big Shot with the Subtle Textured embossing folder.
Because the oval shape was determined by Freshly Made Sketches, I followed the sketch for the background as well.
The card base is Thick Whisper White, followed by a layer of Galvanized Metallic Paper, embossed by the Tin Tile embossing folder. This is topped with a layer of Whisper White cardstock, stamped with the Buffalo Check background stamp in Gray Granite ink. The tin container is sitting on “Happy Thanksgiving” (retired Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set), which was cut with the Classic Label Punch.
Finally, Braided Linen Trim was added to complete my Thanksgiving card.

Country Home is the perfect stamp set for making Thanksgiving cards.
Country Home Blessings
I think this container is supposed to be tin, but I turned it into an antique stoneware crock. I stamped the crock in Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, and Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends for coloring.
The label, “enjoy,” is in the Country Home stamp set also, and I used the same colors. Fussy cutting was fairly easy with my Stampin’ Up Paper Snips.
The Country Home stamp set has some beautiful floral arrangements, but I wanted to try a different look with Bouquet Bunch dies. The stems and leaves are die cut from Old Olive cardstock. The flowers are die cut from Whisper White cardstock, and sponge daubed with Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry ink.
Are you wondering how I decided on the colors? The Global Design project made it easy, because of their color challenge this week.
For the background, I’m using a striped piece of Neutrals 6X6 Designer Series Paper. Okay, I admit it, I’m addicted to the Subtle Textured embossing folder, so my DSP got the treatment. And, I stamped the sentiment, “Happy Harvest Blessings,” right on top of it.
The last detail is some Nature’s Twine that I tied to the handle of the crock. In reality, it’s placed on a Glue Dot.

Apple season is upon us, and Stampin’ Up’s “Picked For You” stamp set helps us create very artistic apples.
Apple on Burlap
The Picked For You stamp set has four stamps for stamping the apple, and the Stamparatus positioning tool works wonders. The ink colors I used to stamp the apple on Sahara Sand cardstock: Granny Apple Green (of course), Pear Pizzazz, Lemon Lime Twist, and Soft Suede for the stem. I used my Aqua painter to blend the lines and colors together, and then fussy cut the apple in a circle.
My apple needed a place to sit, so I thought of the Burlap background stamp. I stamped the Burlap in Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, then cut a corner square to fit on my Sahara Sand card base. Stesha Bloodhart gave me the idea to actually snip the fringe with scissors. I added more texture by running the Burlap through the Big Shot using the Corrugated embossing folder.
TIP: The apple is lifted in the center by two dimensionals, then glued around the edge.
I chose the sentiment, “I couldn’t have picked a better friend,” also from the “Picked For You” stamp set, and stamped it in Soft Suede ink.
The theme this week at Paper Players is apple(s) using a clean & simple layout.
I decided right before posting that my apple need a leaf. So, I stamped a leaf from the Lemon Zest stamp set in Pear Pizzazz ink on Sahara Sand cardstock. The leaf was easily cut, using the Lemon Builder Punch. I tucked it behind the apple stem, and my clean & simple card was complete.

Making Every Day Bright is the stamp set being featured at this week’s What Will You Stamp? challenge. My cat was insistent on participating in this Halloween project, so this is what happened:
Hal the Cat
The first thing I did was use the Cat Punch to make Hal (his new name) from Basic Black cardstock. He wanted a scary bow, so I let him shred some Nature’s Twine in the Blackberry Bliss color.
Then, Hal chose the spooky lightbulb in the Making Every Day Bright stamp set; the one with a spider and web.
Hal got his way, and I stamped four bulbs in black ink on Whisper White cardstock, letting him punch them out with the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch. I used a Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blend to color the ends. The stamp set has a neat, electrical cord, to attach the bulbs, so we stamped that in Black ink on a Whisper White cardstock layer.
We chose a Gorgeous Grape card base, and layered it with Pumpkin Pie cardstock. You can see how the Whisper White, top layer, is crooked, because Hal and I were struggling. He wanted to emboss it, but I liked it smooth, and said, “enough is enough!”
Hal wanted a place to sit, so the Bunch of Banners die cut makes a good spot. I cut the border from Pumpkin Pie cardstock, and stamped “Trick or Treat” in black ink on Whisper White cardstock. We found the sentiment in the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set, and Hal agreed it would be just right for Halloween. I think he’s more into the tricks than the treating.
Hal is quite proud of his creation, and wants to show it off at two challenges. The theme and colors were perfect, so how could I say no?
