Balloons for Global Design Project 431

This week’s Global Design Project is a theme challenge, all about balloons! I pulled out a stamp set from the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog that I haven’t used in a while, and remembered why I love the balloons in this stamp set; they have tiny stars!

I began by stamping three, large, balloons in three colors of ink: Bubble Bath, Lemon Lolly, and Lemon Lime Twist, on Basic White Cardstock, 3 3/4″ X 5″. Then, I stamped a tassel on each balloon, and backed the layer with Zoo Crew Designer Paper in a black & white pattern, 1/8″ larger.

Beautiful Balloons

Next, I used another pattern of Zoo Crew DSP and Foam Adhesive Sheets to create the word “YAY” with Mini Alphabet Dies. Rather than cutting the whole alphabet, I used just enough material to make three separate letters.

After attaching “YAY,” I stamped “it’s your day” in Memento Black Ink. This sentiment is from the Warm Welcome Stamp Set, and don’t you like how it rhymes?

To complete my birthday card, I attached the layer, with Dimensionals, to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

See how our designers used the “balloon” theme, then create your own design, and hang it in our gallery.

Bee My Valentine for Global Design Project 430

This week’s Global Design challenge is a sketch, which is always fun. I’m in Valentine-making mode, so the cute bees from the Bee Mine Designer Paper flew onto my card. Yes, I fussy cut them first, and placed them on Dimensionals.

The bee’s background developed from the sketch, with Basic White Cardstock, and Bee Mine Designer Paper, cut with the second largest Deckled Rectangles Die. I glued the designer paper, on an angle, to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

“You Make My Heart Buzz”

Before gluing the Basic White cardstock, I gave it texture with the Layered Flowers Embossing Folder. This made the bees very happy.

The last piece of the sketch was cut from yellow plaid, Bee Mine DSP, cut with the smallest Deckled Rectangles Die.

The sentiment, “you make my heart buzz,” is from the Be My Valentine Stamp Set. I stamped it in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and used an Adoring Hearts Die for cutting. Before attaching the heart, I gave it a touch of color with Petal Pink Ink and a Blending Brush.

See how our designers used the sketch, then create your own design, and hang it in our gallery.

Trucking Along for Global Design Project 429

This week’s Global Design Project is a fun color challenge, using Lost Lagoon, Poppy Parade, and Grey Granite. I thought the colors would be great for a masculine, Valentine card, and started by stamping the truck, from the Trucking Along Stamp Set, in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used its “two-step” stamp to color the truck with Gray Granite Ink.

Trucking Along Valentine

Next, I used an Adoring Hearts Die to cut the heart from Poppy Parade Cardstock, filling the truck with a heavy load. And, I cut two, tall bushes, using a Painted Lavender Die, from Perennial Lavender Designer Paper.

The rectangles were cut with a Perennial Postage Die, 2″ X 2 3/4″, from Perennial Lavender Designer Paper. These were glued on an angle to Basic White Cardstock, cut with the largest Perennial Postage Die. All were glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Don’t you love the detailed edge that these dies provide?

Finally, the sentiment from the Trucking Along Stamp Set. I stamped “special delivery” in Memento Black Ink, and used another Perennial Postage Die, 1/3/4″ X 3/4″,  for cutting. After attaching it with Dimensionals, my card was complete.

For this week’s Global Design Project, we get to CASE (copy and selectively edit) Cindy Timmer’s beautiful design.

See how our designers “cased” Cindy, then join in the fun, and add your design to our gallery.

For my design, I used a 2″ Punch to cut three circles of birds from Flight & Airy Designer Paper. Then, I backed the birds with circles cut with a Stylish Shapes Die from Flight & Airy DSP in Boho Blue.

The background was cut with a Gorgeous Garden Die from Basic White Cardstock, glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment is from the Sending Love Stamp Set; new in the January-April 2024 Mini Catalog. I stamped “a little love from me to you” in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 1/2″, and attached it with Dimensionals.

3D Mailbox for Global Design Project 427

This week’s Global Design Project is a “hearts” theme. I used the Sending Love Bundle from our January-April 2024 Mini Catalog, featuring a 3D mailbox. How cute is that! Another Sending Love stamp was used to stamp the envelopes in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and cut with a Sending Love Die.

3D Mailbox

I began by cutting the mailbox, with a Sending Love Die, from Most Adored Designer Paper, one of the FREE Sale-a-bration items. The die includes score lines, so the mailbox is easy to create. It comes with a post, which I cut from Thick Basic White Cardstock, and a realistic flag, shown in the first picture.

For the background, I cut Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, and gave it a touch of Flirty Flamingo Ink with a Blending Brush. Then, I glued it to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The grass along the bottom was cut from Basic White Cardstock with a Sending Love Die, also colored with Flirty Flamingo Ink and a Blending Brush.

“Happy Valentine’s Day” is from the Bee My Valentine Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink.

To complete the card, I stamped a Sending Love heart in Flirty Flamingo, and added a Brushed Brass Butterfly.

Sending Love for Global Design Project 426

Happy New Year! Let’s begin 2024 with a card expressing love, perfect for Valentine’s Day, or any day. I’m happy to say, this is my first project as a 2024 Design Team Artisan, and I was thrilled to use my new Artisan watermark.

Sending Love

It was fun to use a new bundle, Sending Love, which you can order January 4. The miniature envelope was created with Basic White Cardstock and a Sending Die, and the bow was cut from Real Red Cardstock. Do you see how I lined it up to fit the plaid?

The background is Most Adored Designer Paper, 3″ X 5 1/2″, glued to a Thick Basic White card base. This DSP is one of the FREE Sale-a-bration items with a qualifying order. Prior to gluing, I embossed the card front with a Basics 3D Embossing Folder, for some texture.

“Love You” is from the Love For You Die Set, cut from Thick Basic White Cardstock. I like that the narrow letters match the width of the red bow. You just have to be careful not to use too much glue.

The darling bird is from the Sending Love Stamp Set. I stamped it in Real Red Ink on Basic White Cardstock, used its Sending Die for cutting, and attached it with a Dimensional.

Three, Classic Matte Dots were added as a finishing touch.

My layout was inspired by this week’s Global Design Project. See how our designers used the sketch, then create your own, and hang it in our gallery.
