Ellie, the elephant, wanted to be the “star” of the show for this week’s Global Design Project with a birthday theme. She was hand-snipped from Zoo Crew Designer Paper, proudly holding her colorful birthday banner.
Since Ellie was the focal point, she asked to be surrounded by stars in colors that matched her banner. I thought it was a good idea, so I used Stampin’ Blends to color Basic White Cardstock in five colors: Lemon Lolly, Lemon Lime Twist, Pumpkin Pie, Petal Pink, and Pool Party. Then, I used two Beautiful Balloons Dies to cut five stars; three smaller, and two larger.
Ellie’s Birthday Card
Ellie’s background is Basic White Cardstock, 3 7/8″ X 5 1/8″, embossed with a Basics 3D Embossing Folder. This is one of a group of three folders that is available in the Online Exclusives store. It was out of stock for a while, and I’m happy to say, it is back! Clicking on the links below will take you there.
Prior to embossing, I stamped, “let’s get our celebration on” in Memento Black Ink. The sentiment is from the Beautiful Balloons Stamp Set, and Ellie loves how it’s curved, don’t you?
Beneath the white, embossed, background is Basic Black Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, which is layered on a Smoky Slate card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
Once the layers and stars were glued, it was time for Ellie to hop on. But, first, she wanted to be colored gray, not too light, and not too dark. She was happy with the way I used a Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil and a Blender Pen. If you think she’s blushing, it’s from the Calypso Coral Watercolor Pencil.

Welcome to this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge. See how our designers used the sketch, then join in the fun, and hang your creation in our gallery.
Have you made a slimline card? It’s easy, and fun to work with a different proportion. I began by cutting Pebbled Path Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 7 “, folded at 3 1/2″, for the card base. Then, I cut Basic White Cardstock, 3 1/4″ X 8 1/4”, for my background, which would be glued to the card base as a last step.
I decided to use flowers from a favorite designer paper, Hello Irresistible. An Irresistible Blooms Die was used to cut three flowers from the designer paper. We love it when Stampin’ Up! matches dies to the designer paper! Then, I used Paper Snips to cut a row of top petals from additional flowers, and attached the petals with Dimensionals.

Irresistible Slimline
The flowers are attached to a wonderful die-cut from Irresistible Blooms, and I think I’ve figured out the easiest way to use it. I cut a piece of Pebbled Path Cardstock, 6 1/4″ X 1 1/2″, and adhered it to the same size cut of an Adhesive Sheet. Then, I placed the Irresistible Blooms Die on top of the cardstock, and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. After cutting, I poked out all the parts that weren’t part of the design, before peeling the backing of the Adhesive Sheet.
Leaving the die in place, I positioned it on the Basic White Cardstock layer, pressing to make it stick, before removing the die.
Next, I used an Irresistible Blooms stamp to add splashes of dots to coordinate with the flowers in three colors of ink: Flirty Flamingo, Petal Pink, and Daffodil Delight. After attaching the flowers with Dimensionals, I added leaves that were cut with an Irresistible Blooms Die from Thick Basic White Cardstock.
The sentiment, “i couldn’t be happier to have you as my friend,” is from the Irresistible Blooms Stamp Set. I used a Wonderful Thoughts Die for cutting. I have the bundles pictured in my Product List below, because I really recommend the bundles, because you might as well save 10%!

Welcome to Global Design Project! This week we have a fun, color challenge: Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana, and Smoky Slate.
For some reason, I thought of a ladybug, because her body could be gray, rather than black, and her wings could be pink, rather than red. Plus, she could munch on leaves that were bluish green.
I began by using the Ladybug Builder Punch to cut the ladybug from Smoky Slate Cardstock. Her wings are from the Hello Ladybug Stamp Set, which I stamped in Flirty Flamingo Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and used the Ladybug Builder Punch for cutting. Then, I glued her wings at her neck, and raised them with Dimensionals.
The leaves were created with an “online exclusive” set, Tropical Leaf, also a stamp set with a punch.
Whimsical Ladybug
For the background, there is a layer of Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, given a border with the second largest Stitched Whimsy Die. This is an interesting die set, because it makes an impression in the paper, rather than cutting all the way through the paper.
“You can bug me any time” is from the Hello Ladybug Stamp Set. I stamped it in Smoky Slate Ink, used a Sending Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.
The final touch was adding three white, Classic Matt Dots.

Oops-a-daisy
For this week’s Global Design Project, we get to CASE (copy and selectively edit) Charlet Mallett’s beautiful card. See how our designers “cased” Charlet, then join in the fun, and add your design to our gallery.
I began with a pattern of Fresh As A Daisy Designer Paper, cut with the largest Deckled Rectangles Die. This was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I used the fourth largest Deckled Rectangles Die to cut Basic White Cardstock, which I colored with a Stampin’ Blend in a new color, Bubblebath. It’s a gorgeous, pale pink, and sure to be a favorite!
After coloring the background, I used the “ink to stamp” technique to add the three flowers and stems from the Cheerful Daisies Stamp Set. I could have used my ink pad, but my Stampin’ Write Marker was handy, so I just colored the stamp, and pressed it onto the paper.
Next, I created the 3D daisy with Basic White Cardstock and Cheerful Daisies Dies. The leaves and flower center were cut from Fresh As A Daisy Designer Paper.
The sentiment, “Oops-a-Daisy so sorry,” is from the Cheerful Daisies Stamp Set; isn’t it cute? I stamped it in VersaMark on Fresh As A Daisy Designer Paper, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder, and set it with the Heat Tool. Then, I used a Cheerful Daisies Die for cutting, glued 2/3 to the center layer, and placed a Dimensional beneath the part that hangs over.
After attaching the center layer, and my 3D daisy with Dimensionals, I added three, Brushed Brass Butterflies, and my CASE was complete.

This week’s Global Design Project is the theme, “rain or shine.” Be inspired by our designers, then create your own design, and hang it in our gallery.
I created a rainbow, using the Season Of Chic Stamp Set, which is carrying over to the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog. The bundle is included in my Product List below, because it’s available with Chic Dies for a 10% discount. The stamp set and dies will be sold separately in the new catalog.
I used the “swish” stamp to stamp five colors on Basic White Cardstock, 4 ” X 5 1/4″. This is the order used to create the rainbow: Fresh Freesia, Tahitian Tide, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Poppy Parade.
Rainbow and Raindrops
Next, I stamped, “the best is yet to come,” in Memento Black Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, used a Painted Labels Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.
This Painted Labels Die Set is retiring (discounted 60%), and the sentiment is from the Dainty Delight Stamp Set, which is carrying over to the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog.
Before gluing the rainbow to its Thick Basic White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), I embossed it with the Raindrops Embossing Folder.
The final step was adding a few 2022-2024 Matte Dots.

Several “Last Chance Products” were featured on today’s card. The Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set and Mango Melody Ink have sold out, but the Fabulous Frames Dies, and Floral Gallery Dies, are still available. Clicking on the pictures in my Product List will show you the sale price. And, if something is sold out, it will say “out with the old, in with the new.”
I began with a Daffodil Delight card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I used the largest Fabulous Frames Die to cut a frame from Thick Basic White Cardstock, and cut Basic White Cardstock, 4 1/2″ X 3 1/2″, to glue behind it.
Framed Watercolor Shapes
Prior to gluing, I used a square, Watercolor Shapes Stamp, to stamp nine squares in three colors, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, and Mango Melody. I eye-balled it, so they wouldn’t be perfectly spaced. Then, I raised the framed squares on Dimensionals.
The sentiment, “birthday wishes,” is from the Sending Smiles Stamp Set. It was stamped in Memento Black Ink, cut with a Floral Gallery Die, and attached with Dimensionals. The Sending Smiles Stamp Set and Sending Dies are carrying over to the new catalog.
