Adorable Owl Named Hoot

Sale-a-bration is going strong in its final month of the year. Ten FREE gifts were added for February, and you can see all of them listed below. For today’s card, I used one of the original offers, Adorable Owls, plus two of the new offerings, which I will indicate.

Hoot the Adorable Owl

I began by stamping Hoot, one of the Adorable Owls, in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. After snipping Hoot free from the paper, I colored him with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends, and Tahitian Tide for his eyes. Hoot asked for that color, because he said it was his favorite color of blue.

Next, I prepared his background by using a Blending Brush and Tahitian Tide Ink on Basic White Cardstock (4″ X 5 1/4″) to make a “blue moon” as he requested. I accomplished this by creating a stencil with the largest Layering Circles Die, and laying this cardstock on top of the cardstock I colored.

After coloring, I embossed the layer with the Into The Clouds Embossing Folder, because Hoot said he wanted “lots of sky.” Then, he asked for a Smoky Slate card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″) to match his feathers. He said I should point out that this embossing folder is now FREE during Sale-a-bration, but be sure to use the SAB number, 164423, because it differs from the catalog number.

The third Sale-a-bration item is the label Hoot chose for his perch. It’s from the Eden Die Set, which is combined with the Eden’s Garden Stamp Set in a Bundle, #163999. You can see the bundle below; what a great FREE gift!

I cut the label from Brights 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper in Gorgeous Grape, which I topped with Basic White Cardstock, cut with a Potted Succulents Die. Hoot thought it fit nicely with “It’s your day!” from his Adorable Owls Stamp Set.

Hoot was proud of his tie, and said I could make it look really spiffy, if I “paper-pieced” it. He said to stamp his entire body on the Gorgeous Grape designer paper, and then fussy cut his tie, and attach it with tiny Dimensionals.

Now, Hoot can’t wait to show off his card!

Dainty Flowers in a Heart

I LOVE using paper words for sentiments on cards, and the So Much Love Die Set has great words that can mix and match. I cut “much” and “love” from Mossy Meadow Cardstock, the same color as the card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

For the top layer, I cut Basic White Cardstock a bit larger than usual, so the Mossy Meadow border would be as narrow as the words, 4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″.

Dainty Flowers Heart

Today’s card actually began by fussy cutting flowers from the Dainty Flowers Designer Paper. This paper has been a Sale-a-bration, favorite item, and you can get yours FREE with a $50.00 order, as long as supplies last.

I’m not sure what possessed me, but I really enjoyed cutting out these delicate flowers.

The flowers are held together by a heart. Since the Country Bouquet Heart Punch is out of stock until some time in April, I wanted you to see a wonderful alternative. This is the heart from the Brushed Shapes Die Set, cut from Thick Basic White Cardstock. You can see all of the fun dies in the set in my Product List below. And, you’ll see a different use of the heart on tomorrow’s blog post.

Before gluing the heart to the card front, I glued the flowers to its back, leaving some free for dimension.

Artistically Inked Birthday Paper Hug Card

I fell in love with TGIF’s inspirational photo, so I had to CASE (copy and selectively edit) it.

I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, which I embossed with the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder.

Next, I cut a square of Basic White Cardstock, 3″ X 3″, and stamped the sentiment in Stazon Black Ink. “Happy Birthday” is from the Artistically Ink Stamp Set, and “sending you this paper hug” is from Through It Together. Then, I cut a square of Basic Black Cardstock 1/8″ larger, giving it a 1/16″ border.

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Artistically Inked Stamp Set, Artistic Dies, Through It Together Stamp Set, Timeworn Type Embossing Folder, Dainty Delight Dies, Iridescent Pearls; #artisticallyinked #artisticdies #throughittogether #timeworntype #daintydelightdies #birthdaycards #case #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #stamping #stampinup #cardchallenges #cardthemes

Birthday Hugs

The corner, focal point, was stamped with the Artistically Inked stamps and cut with coordinating Artistic Dies. I stamped the larger flower in Polished Pink, the smaller flower in Daffodil Delight, and the leaves in Gray Granite. The purple was cut with a Dainty Delight Die from Highland Heather Cardstock.

After gluing, and attaching the flowers, I added three Iridescent Pearls, and my CASE was complete.

Watercolor Splash, Hearts, and Love

The floral patterns in the Dainty Flowers Designer Paper are beautiful, but don’t overlook this watercolor, splash pattern, on the back. I cut the first piece with the largest Deckled Rectangles Die, and glued it to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I used the sixth largest Deckled Rectangles Die to cut a second piece for the top layer.

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Dainty Flowers DSP, Deckled Rectangles Dies, Country Bouquet Punch, Love For You Dies; #loveforyoudies #countrybouquetpunch #daintyflowersdsp #caneweaveembossingfolder #deckledrectanglesdies #hearts #watercoloredpaper #heartsoncards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stamping #stampinup #sumohr

Watercolored Hearts

Next, I used the fourth largest Deckled Rectangles Die to cut Basic White Cardstock, which I embossed with the new, Cane Weave Embossing Folder. Isn’t the texture fabulous? After attaching the embossed piece to the card front with Dimensionals, I attached the top piece of Dainty Flowers Designer Paper, also on Dimensionals.

Adding hearts to my design was easy, using the Country Bouquet Punch. I punched three small hearts, and one large heart, from Dainty Flowers Designer Paper. Before attaching them with Dimensionals, I layered them with Thick Basic White Cardstock for thickness.

The last step was adding “love,” which was cut with a Love For You Die, from the same Dainty Flowers Designer Paper.

Love For You in Three Colors

Today’s card developed with three colors in mind, and a variety of products, including dies from three new sets, and a new punch.

Sometimes it’s fun to look through a hole in a wall, isn’t it? I created this hole in Basic White Cardstock (4″ X 5 1/5″) by cutting it with the largest Layering Circles Die. After cutting, I embossed the area surrounding the hole with the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder.

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Dainty Delight Dies, Around The Bend Dies, Love For You Dies, Country Bouquet Punch, Layering Circles Dies, Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder; #daintydelight #aroundthebend #loveforyou #countrybouquet #brickandmortar #layeringcircles #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stamping #stampinup #sumohr

Through a Brick Wall

The sky, seen through the wall, was smoothed onto Basic White Cardstock, also 4″ X 5 1/4″, with Balmy Blue Ink and a Blending Brush.

I attached the two together with the edges of Dimensionals, which I photographed for you to see. It may have been overkill, but I wanted my brick wall to have a firm foundation. LOL! My sky and brick wall layers were then glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The vine growing around the hole was cut from Thick Basic White Cardstock, using a new, Dainty Delight Die. It’s a very special vine that grows hearts this time of year.

The larger heart was punched from In Color 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper in Polished Pink, using the new, Country Bouquet Punch. The five tiny hearts were cut from the same designer paper, using a new, Around the Bend Die. To give the hearts dimension, I used a Foam Adhesive Sheet for the tiny hearts, and a Mini Dimensional for the larger one.

Finally, “Love you” was written in the sky with Early Espresso Cardstock, cut with new, Love For You Dies. You can see all of the new, and current, supplies in my Product List below.
