The Tropical Oasis Designer Paper provides the focal point for today’s masculine birthday card.

Classic Woody
Do you remember these classic Woody cars? My brother paid $50.00 for one back in the 60s. What a deal! Problem was, it didn’t run. But, my mother loved anything old, and my father loved anything with wood, so they agreed to let it sit behind our house. I think it was still there when we moved.

Today’s card looks simple, and it is. However, you wouldn’t believe how long it took to complete. It’s unusual for me to tear up a card, but its predecessor is in the trash. I think I had too many goals in mind, because I was making it for a specific person’s birthday, plus two card challenges, but I persevered.
The first thing I did, for both cards, was to crop the Woody from the Tropical Oasis Designer Paper. To give it a nice shape, I used a Painted Labels Die.
TIP: Take your time figuring out which cars to crop. Some cars have more space surrounding them than others.

Next, I stamped the palm trees, from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set, in Pear Pizzazz Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. Then, I layered this on a Soft Sea Foam card base.
I used “Happy Birthday” from the Clubhouse Stamp Set, because it was the right size, and had its die from the Golf Club Die Set for cutting.

Since this card is for a certain person, I stamped “You’re a classic” inside, and decorated the envelope flap.
TIP: Cut a piece of DSP 5 3/4″ by 2 1/4″, add a thin line of Liquid Glue around the edge of the flap, attach the DSP, and trim the excess using the flap as a template.

The two challenges are:

I made a card almost like this 2 days ago. I used stitched nested labels to cut out the “woody”
Good idea, Peggy! This DSP is so much fun!
You are so funny about tearing up card….Don’t you wish you still had this car in the family?
Jim had a GTO, wish we still had that. I think he dreams about it. As usual, great card.
Su, love your take on the challenges! You preserved the white space and kept true to the basic layout of the other challenge. What I particularly
Ike about your creation is that you used the palm trees to ground the delightful dsp panel. The trees add to the fun tropical theme without overpowering the white space.
Nicely done! Once again you knock it out of the park with your unique ability to create amazing CAS designs. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks, Liz! I’m glad you enjoy my humor. I understand dreaming about the GTO!
Thank you, Susy! It’s such a nice compliment that you notice all the details. I’m happy to be an inspiration!
