The “spotlight technique” is easy, fun, and has great versatility. I used the Daisy Lane Stamp Set for today’s Seize the Birthday card.
The “Toppings” at Seize the Birthday is “square card,” so I created a card that measures 4 /14″ X 4 1/4,” that will fit in Stampin’ Up’s, Medium Envelope.
After cutting the Thick Whisper White card base, I cut a piece of regular Whisper White Cardstock, 4”X 4”.
Then, I stamped the realistic daisy from the Daisy Lane Stamp Set, randomly, in Memento Black Ink.
Next, I cut a circle from the middle of the daisies with a Layering Circles Die. I used the scalloped circle that is a spec larger to cut a circle from Basic Black Cardstock.
Before gluing the circles together, I colored the daisies and their background with three Stampin’ Blends: Light Mango Melody, Light Calypso Coral, and Light Pool Party.
After replacing the circle in its hole, I made the horizontal black lines, using a Layering Square Die with matching scallops.
Cutting the thin strips was the most difficult part of the card.
The sentiment is from the Daisy Lane Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink, cut with the Classic Label Punch, and placed on Mimi-Dimensionals.
When it’s your birthday, “it’s your turn to shine.” Now, it’s everyone’s turn to add a birthday card to the Seize the Birthday Gallery!
