Welcome to the Kre8tors September 2018 Blog Hop. Our theme this month is sympathy cards, where we’ll share ideas for reaching out to loved ones during difficult times. The Blog Hop name list is at the end of my post, or you can click the “next” button to go to Maria’s page.

There is something peaceful about neutral colors, so I chose gray and brown tones for this sympathy card.

Tin Tile Botanical Bliss Bird

I began by stamping the bird from the Botanical Bliss stamp set in Sahara Sand ink on Whisper White cardstock. The bird is stamped in even rows, and “stamped off,” which makes him lighter in color. Then, I stamped the cluster of hearts, from the Love You to Pieces stamp set, in full strength Sahara Sand ink.

With my “bird designer paper” complete, I layered it on Crumb Cake cardstock, to match the Crumb Cake card base I had chosen.

It seemed to call for rounded corners, and our Detailed Trio Punch accomplished this very easily.

The background (first layer on the Crumb Cake card base) was made with two, exciting, new products in the Stampin’ Up 2018 Holiday Catalog. It’s the Galvanized Metallic paper, embossed by the Tin Tile embossing folder.

Are you familiar with antique tin tile? I liked it so much, 18 years ago, we installed a reproduction of it as a backsplash in our kitchen. You can imagine how excited I was to see the Tin Tile embossing folder in the Holiday catalog.

I used Foam Adhesive Strips to adhere my rounded, corner piece to the tin tile layer, before adding some detail to the card front.

The sentiment, “with love and sympathy,” is from Itty Bitty Greetings, and cut with the Classic Label Punch.

The decorative strip is Galvanized Metallic paper, cut with a Petals & More die, and laced with the new Braided Linen Trim.

Finally, I used a Frosted Bouquet die to cut the two sprigs from Whisper White and Sahara Sand cardstock.

I cut one more sprig from Crumb Cake cardstock for the inside. The sentiment, one of my favorites for sympathy cards, is from Flourishing Phrases.

The Tin Tile embossing folder was used one more time to decorate the envelope flap. I couldn’t resist, and it’s great in Whisper White too!
