Today’s card brings a smile to my face. I often watch birds soar, and imagine how they feel.

Bird Soaring Among the Clouds

The colors were inspired by this week’s TGIF challenge. Don’t you love Coastal Cabana? I began with it as the card base.

I also used Coastal Cabana for the clouds, applying a stenciling technique. The Pretty Label Punch has a great cloud shape, so I punched one from Thick Whisper White cardstock. Then, using a Sponge Dauber on regular weight, Whisper White cardstock, I added ink around the border of my punched cloud, moving it, and filling in the blank areas with more ink.

TIP: Daubing onto the punched cloud first (before spreading) will prevent making a round spot. You can see my punched cloud is dark from the repeated daubing.

I owe my cloud idea to this week’s challenge at Festive Friday.

The Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Paper was perfect for framing my clouds, which I cut to fit. Before gluing the two together, I stamped a row of tree tops (Lovely As A Tree stamp set) in Early Espresso ink.

Next, it was time to start on my soaring bird. I stamped the Serene Garden bird in Early Espresso ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock. Then, I colored her with three Stampin’ Blends: Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie and Ivory.

A Garden Scene Die was used to cut my Pumpkin Pie, soaring bird, and I raised her on dimensionals.
