Alcohol Blending is a technique that was used to create beautiful patterns in the Expressions In Ink Designer Paper.  It makes designing cards a cinch, because the designer paper does all the work. I simply cut a section, 5 1/2″ X 4″, and glued it to a Just Jade card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Majestic Trees

This was followed by cutting two trees from Rainbow Glimmer Paper, using Majestic Mountain Dies. The die set is in the May 2021-April 2022 Annual Catalog, and I used this tree on a number of cards last year.  It makes a great Christmas tree, and there are two, so you can cut them at the same time. You can see the entire set in my Product List below. There is also a coordinating, Mountain Air Stamp Set, wonderful for masculine cards.

Prior to gluing the trees in place, I stamped the sentiment.  “May your days be merry & bright” is from the Tidings & Trimmings Stamp Set, stamped in Just Jade Ink to match the card base.

I used the Stamparatus to help insure proper stamping. It stamped just right the first time, but I like the added security of the Stamparatus. If you aren’t familiar with it, you can read about it by clicking on the picture in my Product List.

This card was almost too easy, and I tried adding some embellishments, but sometimes “less is more.”

I was inspired by TGIF.

“If you aren’t familiar with how to do the alcohol blending technique, here are a few pointers from our talented master of this technique,  Tammy Wilson…
Supplies: Stampin’ Blends Markers of your choice, Vellum Cardstock, Isoproypl Alcohol (99.9% strength if possible), Small Paint Brush, Ear Syringe Bulb (Optional), Heat Tool (Optional)
Start by adding small patches of color on the vellum cardstock. Dip your paint brush in the alcohol, and sparingly add tiny drops to the colored patches. The alcohol will cause the ink to spread, so go slowly. You can also use the ear syringe bulb to blow the ink around, so that you get even more of an organic feel. Once the vellum cardstock is dry (…a Heat Tool will come in handy for this), you can always repeat the process, adding more ink and more alcohol again. The best way to add the finished product to a project is to back it with Basic White Cardstock, using little dabs of Stampin’ Seal. Of course, once you start playing around with this fun technique, you’ll find other little tips and tricks that work for you as well.”
