Just when you think you’ve seen all the wonders of Washi Tape, flower petals appear!
When I first saw this Pressed Petals Washi Tape in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! I wasn’t sure how to use it, but knew I had to have it. If you feel the same way, clicking on the picture in my Product List will take you to my store for ordering.
It turns out, the flower was easy to make. I peeled off six petals, attaching them together at the center. They were sticky, so, placed them on my Silicone Craft Sheet, and put a Perennial Essence Floral Center in the middle.
Before making today’s card, I read a tip from Jacquii, that the Embossing Buddy will remove the stickiness. It worked perfectly! She also told us that each roll has 100 petals, which is good to know.
Now, on to the card, where I found the layout at TGIF.
I’m in love with the Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper, and I used a pattern that duplicates my “real” flower. I made a 2″ banner with the Banner Triple Punch, adding two layers for thickness.
The card base is Crumb Cake, topped with a 1/8″ Pressed Petals DSP border, and more Crumb Cake Cardstock that I embossed with the new Brick Wall Embossing Folder.
My flower is resting on a Crumb Cake hexagon, cut with a Stitched Nested Labels Die.
“Thinking of You” is from the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set, and stamped in Merry Merlot Ink.
Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed seeing the new Pressed Petals Washi Tape. Incidentally, the brown Washi Tape in the picture has verses on it. It’s unique also, and I’ll be using it in the future.
If you like it, order ASAP. I’m just guessing, but the Washi Tape and Floral Centers seem like “sell-out” items.

I attached the petals to a 1” circle for a base. It made it easier for me to handle. Love your project. A few of the flowers on the banner also look like washi tape flowers.
Thank You! We made your card today,
Hi Ellen,
Thank you for telling me! This makes me happy!
Hi Su, I was reading your blog page today. I was wondering if you’d answer a couple of questions for me? I really don’t understand why would you want to use the Embossing Buddy on your Washi Tape flowers? Did you need anymore adhesive to keep your flower sticking to your CS? A Silicone Craft Sheet is always a great idea when working with anything that’s adhesive-backed! Thank you so much for sharing your card with us all! I always learn so much from you and you have such beautiful projects!
Hi Gloria,
I used the Embossing Buddy on the backs of the petals to keep them from sticking flat to the card. I used Liquid Glue, just at the center of the flower to secure it to the cardstock. I hope this answers your question. I’m happy that you enjoy my blog. Thank you!
I always pick your card out of Mary Fish’s group on Sundays before I look at who made it! I just love your ideas. And I didn’t have a clue about how that Washington tape would work. TFS. Now I want the washi tape!!
Thank you, Kathy! That’s such a nice compliment! So glad you like my ideas!
Truly gorgeous card!!! I am in love with that flower and it looks amazing with that DSP. Thanks for joining TGIF Challenges this week.
Thank you, Tami! I love your creations!
You knocked it out of the ballpark with this card!!!! So many luscious elements, from the Washi petal flower resting on the Stitched Label diecut , to the gorgeous DSP strip, ending with that brick embossed background. Perfection! I’m bookmarking this one for future viewing pleasure!
Thanks for sharing the tip about how to de-stickify part of the Washi petal. Can’t wait to try this myself!
