With a sketch in mind, today’s card began with two vertical strips, cut with a Palms Die from Thick Basic White Cardstock. This was bound to be a tropical card, and it makes me want to go to Hawaii!

Pretty Bird’s tropical sunshine

Before gluing my die-cut strips, I stamped a large sun, using a Watercolor Shapes stamp with Mango Melody Ink, on Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. This was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Next, I cut two palm branches with a Palms Die from 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper in Granny Apple Green and Mossy Meadow. Pretty Bird didn’t want to be left out from her favorite home, and asked to be cut with her Birdhouse Die from Parakeet Party Cardstock. Of course she would choose that color!

Pretty Bird wanted to say something with “sunshine” in it, and we found the perfect sentiment in the Sending Smiles Stamp Set. I stamped “sunshine to brighten your day” in Old Olive Ink, used a Sending Die for cutting, and placed it on Mini Dimensionals. Pretty Bird flew onto her spot, and I thought the card was complete. But, Pretty Bird wanted to add some Loose Flower Flourishes, and I agreed it was a nice touch.
