Artisan’s Secret Santa Exchange

The 2024 Artisan Design Team is feeling the spirit of the season. Today we are hopping, but this isn’t an ordinary hop. This is a special Secret Santa Gift Exchange Hop! Earlier we drew names and then got busy hand stamping a project just for them. The projects in this hop are all gifts to one another. You will see the hop on Instagram.

Humble Home

I am gifting my talented, Artisan friend, Dani Dziama, with a CASE of her Humble Home card. I always look forward to seeing her artistic contributions, and she is a master of  “clean & simple cards.” I love the way Dani used heat embossing to add “icing” to the gingerbread house, and line the roof with peppermints. I copied her ideas, with additional trees of “sugar,” and So Swirly embossing. It has been a pleasure being on the 2024 Artisan Design Team with her, and it will be a year I’ll always remember.

Happy Hibiscus for Artisan Project

November’s assignment for the 2024 Artisan Design Team was to create projects using the Happy Hibiscus Bundle, one of the new additions to Online Exclusives. You’ll find the supplies in my Product List below, as well as the link to Online Exclusives.

By Su Mohr for Artisan Design Team; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Happy Hibiscus Artisan Project

For the first card, I chose a Petal Pink card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I used the Happy Hibiscus Hybrid Embossing Folder with Basic White Cardstock, 5 1/4″ X 4″. After running it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine, I colored it with a Large Blending Brush and Flirty Flamingo Ink. Next, I used a Small Blending Brush and Petal Pink Ink to add highlights to the flowers.

The sentiment, “You make me smile,” is from the Happy Hibiscus Stamp Set. I stamped it in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and used a Happy Hibiscus Die for cutting. Before attaching it with Dimensionals, I colored it with a Blending Brush and Flirty Flamingo Ink. The three flowers were cut from Flirty Flamingo and Petal Pink Cardstock with Happy Hibiscus Dies, and glued in place. The flower centers are Resin Dots.

The second card features a large hibiscus flower, cut with a Happy Hibiscus Die from Basic White Cardstock, and embossed with the Happy Hibiscus “Hybrid” Embossing Folder. I used the same colors, with a Blending Brush, as the first card, and placed it on Dimensionals. Then, I used another Happy Hibiscus Die to cut three leaves from Basic White Cardstock. After cutting, I colored the leaves with a Blending Brush and Old Olive Ink, and glued them in place.

The background was created with a Happy Hibiscus Die, which I used to cut four circles. One was stamped with the sentiment from the stamp set, “Thanks for being so kind.” Before gluing the circles to Basic White Cardstock, 3 5/8″ X 4 7/8″, I used a Happy Hibiscus stamp with Memento Black Ink in four places. This layer was backed with Flirty Flamingo Cardstock, 3 3/4″ X 5″, giving it a 1/16″ border. The card base is Thick Basic White Cardstock, 8 1/2 X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Tips for Layering Die-cuts for Dimension

I really enjoy die-cutting, and adding “thickness” to the images for dimension. I hope you find the following tips useful.
By Su Mohr for Artisan Tips & Techniques Project; Featuring: Peaceful Season Bundle, Winterly Tree Tops, Iridescent Discs; #peacefulseason #winterlytreetops #christmascards #tips&techniques #artisandesignteam #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #stampinup

Die-cut layering tips

Step 1. Use a die to cut two images. In my example, I used “Christmas” with Gold Foil,
and Wild Wheat Cardstock. The colors should match as closely as possible. Lay the
images flat on your work space, and add pin dots of Liquid Glue to the die-cut that will
be the bottom layer. Place the top layer over the bottom layer, having it match as closely
as possible.
Step 2. Before the glue is set, lift the die-cuts in the air, and carefully mold the sides with
your fingers, for even edges.
Step 3. You can add even more dimension with an additional layer of paper. The
Peaceful Season Dies have a die that fits the word “Christmas” perfectly, and allows you
to raise it higher on Mini Dimensionals.

Color The World Artisan Project

The 2024 Artisan Design Team loves Stampin’ Up!’s colors! We have been inspired by pages 132 and 133 in the Annual Catalog and have shared a bit of colorful inspiration with you on Instagram. I’m also sharing my project with you on my blog.

By Su Mohr for Artisan Project; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details; Featuring: Winterly Tree Tops Dies, Peaceful Season Bundle, Peaceful Evergreens; #colortheory #colorwheel, #peacefulevergreens #peacefulseason #winterlytreetops #handmadecards #creativechallengesu #handcrafted #diy #stampinup #cardmaking #papercrafting #artisandesignteam

Color Theory

Stampin’ Up! has a new tool, a “Color Coach, “that you’ll be able to order November 5. It’s #166481, so put that number on your list.

For my Christmas card, I chose the color Pretty In Pink, combined with Melon Mambo and Copper Clay. These are analogous colors, side by side on the color wheel.

The background was created with a Winterly Tree Tops die-cut, and a Blending Brush with Pretty In Pink Ink on Basic White Cardstock. The trees are from the Peaceful Evergreen Stamp Set, stamped in Melon Mambo.

Copper Clay Cardstock was used for a 1/16″ border, and three strands of Linen Thread. The sentiment is from the Peaceful Seasons Stamp Set, stamped in Melon Mambo, and cut with a Peaceful Seasons Die.

The tag shows “complementary” colors, Pretty In Pink and Lost Lagoon, which are opposite on the wheel.

I created the tag with Country Birdhouse Dies, and a checked pattern from Lily Pond Lane Designer Paper. After backing it with Basic White Cardstock, I cut the roof and ledge from Pretty In Pink Cardstock and Basic White Cardstock.

Before attaching the ledge with Dimensionals, I stamped  “Love from my home to yours.” The sentiment is from the Peaceful Season Stamp Set.

I used a Country Birdhouse stamp and Memento Black Ink to stamp the bird on Thoughtful Journey Designer Paper.

Regal Flora Bundle for Artisan Design Team

October’s assignment for the 2024 Artisan Design Team was to create projects using the Regal Flora Bundle from the 2024 September- December Mini Catalog. You’ll find the supplies in my Product List below.

By Su Mohr for Artisan October Project; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Regal Flora Stamp Set, Regal Flora Dies; Birch Wood Embossing Folder; Rainbow Dots; #regalflora #flowers #flowersoncards #sept-dec2024minicatalog #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #artisandesignteam #sumohr #stampinup

Regal Flora Artisan Project

For the first card, I chose a Petal Pink card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. I layered it with Basic White Cardstock, 5 1/4″ X 4″. Prior to  gluing the cardstock, I gave it texture with the Birch Wood Embossing Folder.

Next, I stamped the Regal Flora, single flower, in five colors of ink on Basic White Cardstock: Lemon Lolly, Bubble Bath, Petal Pink, Daffodil Delight and Pretty In Pink. After stamping I used its Regal Flora Die for cutting the nine flowers. The two Garden Green sprigs were also stamped and die-cut.

To make the rectangular wreath I used the frame of a Regal Flora die-cut, which was glued to the card front. Then, I arranged the flowers, attached them with Dimensionals, and glued the sprigs.

“Sending love your way” is from the Regal Flora Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink on the center of the die-cut. After stamping, I attached it with Dimensionals. Rainbow Dots were added as a final touch.

The second card features a small flower, stamped in the same colors as the first card, cut with its Regal Flora Die, and placed on Dimensionals. The piece beneath the flowers was also cut with a Regal Flora Die, from Basic White Cardstock, and colored with a Blending Brush and Granny Apple Green Ink.

The background is Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, with the sentiment stamped directly on it. “Wishing I were there to give you a hug” and framed with a border from the die-cut. I also stamped the Garden Green dots, using a Regal Flora Stamp. This layer was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Sentimental Christmas Book Treat Boxes Artisan Project

Stampin’ Up’s new year begins today, October 1st. Welcome to the holiday season! If you like treat boxes, you will love today’s project. Stampin’ Up’s new Book Treat Boxes (10 in a pack) are on page 27 in the September-December 2024 Mini Catalog.

By Su Mohr for Artisan Project; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Sentimental Christmas Designer Paper, Sentimental Wishes Bundle, Book Treat Boxes, Countryside Corners Dies; #Christmastreatboxes #packaging #sentimentalchristmas #sentimentalwishes #booktreatboxes #treatboxes #handmade #diy #papercrafting #holiday2024 #stampinup #sumohr #artisandesignteam

Book Treat Boxes

The boxes were easy to cover in Sentimental Christmas Designer Paper. Sentimental Christmas DSP has a wonderful, vintage look to it, and was chosen by Stampin’ Up! for this year’s Product Giveback, to benefit children’s literacy. With each purchase of the Sentimental Christmas Designer Series Paper, Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 to organizations dedicated to the future of children around the world. We hope you’ll join us in making a difference this holiday season. Order #164209.

I used a Countryside Corners Die to cut the paper for the top of the box. The die that is 4″ wide fits perfectly. Then, I cut designer paper to continue covering the boxes. The back of the top is 4″ X 1″, the front and back of the box are 3 1/2″ X 1″, and the sides of the box are 2 3/4″ X 1″.

The box comes with score lines and tape, making it easy to fold and assemble. I used a Glue Dot under the flap, rather than sealing it permanently.
