A Double Dose of Texture

Texture is a fun ingredient in handmade cards, so today I’m showing two thank you cards using different types of texture. If you click on the photos in my Product List below, it will take you to details about the products I used.

By Su Mohr; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Textured “thank you” cards

For the first card, I used the Fern Embossing Folder on Basic White Cardstock, 3 5/8″ X 4 7/8″. While playing with the new In Colors, I discovered that blending Parakeet Party with Starry Sky makes lovely shades of green.

After using Blending Brushes to apply the two ink colors, I glued this layer to Basic White Cardstock, 3 3/4″ X 5″. Then, I glued the two layers to a Soft Succulent card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

“Sending” was cut with a Sending Die from In Color Glimmer Paper. “A note of thanks” is from the Sending Smiles Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Succulent Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and cut with a Sending Die.

For my second card, I used the Stitched Greenery Die to add texture to Basic White Cardstock, 3 1/2″ X 4 3/4″. Doesn’t it look like quilted fabric? Prior to using the die, I stamped a Nature’s Prints plant in three shades of green ink: Soft Sea Foam, Parakeet Party, and Soft Succulent.

Additional texture was added with a Soft Sea Foam frame, cut with a Fabulous Frames Die. I love the embossed detailing on the frame.

“Thank you” is from the Art Gallery Stamp Set, chosen because it fit perfectly on a Fabulous Frames die-cut label. It was stamped in Evening Evergreen Ink, and attached with Dimensionals. I added even more texture with two tiny Iridescent Pearls, and a “sneak peek” of Soft Sea Foam Ribbon from the upcoming 2022 July-December Holiday Catalog.

After gluing my framed “quilt” to the Soft Succulent card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, my project was complete.

Sneak Peek of the Kindest Gnomes Bundle

My July-December 2022 Mini Catalog preorder arrived today, and I HAD to play with the gnomes. Yes, the Kindest Gnomes Bundle! You ‘ll be able to order it July 1! And, if you’ve been waiting for a gnome set as I have, you’ll want to order it right away. The gnome stamps are adorable, but my favorite is the gnome created with the four dies on today’s card.

Meet Jerome the gnome! I used Basic White Cardstock for his beard, Crumb Cake Cardstock for his pants/shoes, Neutrals 6X6 DSP for his hat, and Petal Pink Cardstock for his nose.

By Su Mohr for FMS; Click aromasandart.com for details! Featuring: Kindest Gnomes Stamp Set, Gnomes Dies, Sending Dies, Fern Embossing Folder , Forever Flourishing Dies; #kindestgnomes #gnomesdies #gnomes #gnomesoncards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com #stamping #stampinup #july-december2022minicatalog

Jerome the gnome

Here is the Kindest Gnomes Stamp Set, and you can see the Gnomes Dies that cut the cute gnomes and mushroom house. Plus, there are additional dies for mushrooms and grass.

Jerome informed me that gnomes come out during the holidays, but they spend time in gardens year-round, bringing good luck. Therefore, I had to find a sentiment with “good luck.” We found the perfect one in the Sending Smiles Stamp Set, stamped it in Garden Green Ink, used a Sending Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.

Prior to attaching Jerome, he asked to stand in front of a green branch, which we cut with a Forever Flourishing die from Gingham Cottage Designer Paper. This paper is another new product in the July-December 2022 Mini Catalog that you will love!

To add to Jerome’s garden, I used the Fern Embossing Folder on Basic White Cardstock, 5 1/4″ X 4 “. This was layered on a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4”.

It’s exciting to think about the many ways the Kindest Gnome Bundle can be used! I’ll try to remember to come back and link the new products to my store on July 1st.

My lay-out was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Bottled Happiness Framed Shaker Card

Today’s card includes several new products from my “Top 10″ list from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog.  Featured is the Bottled Happiness Bundle, which I’ve shown previously, paired with a new, Fabulous Frames Die.  The frame was cut from Blushing Bride Cardstock, backed with Vellum Layering Designs, 3 1/2″ X 4 3/4″, and glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4”. The detailing on the frame makes it extra special.

By Su Mohr for PP; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Bottled Happiness Bundle, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Brushed Shapes Dies, Sentiment Silhouettes Dies, Fabulous Frames Dies, Stylish Shapes Dies, Vellum layering Designs, For Everything Fancy Sequins; #bottledhappiness #shakercards #brushedshapes #fabulousframes #stylishshapes #bottlepunch #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stamping #stampinup #sumohr #aromasandart.com

Bottled Happiness in a Fabulous Frame

Next, I stamped  the sentiment “Sending Cheer,” from the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set, in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used the 1″ square, Stylish Shapes Die for cutting, and glued it in the corner. The bow was cut from foil, using a Sentiment Silhouettes Die for cutting. This set, known for its word dies, has small dies that can be overlooked, so check them out in my Product List below.

While using the foil, I cut a “squiggle” from the Bushed Shapes Die Set. Then, I cut it in half, so it would fill the width of the frame, and glued it in place.

And, now for the bottle! This is an easy way to fill the bottle to make a shaker card. First, punch the bottle in the middle of cardstock, a bit larger than the Stitched Rectangles Die you want to use. I used 2 1/2″ X 3 1/2″ cardstock, and then the 1 3/4″ X 3 1/8″  Stitched Rectangles Die. Second, place the Vintage Bottle Shaker Dome on your table, rounded side up, remove the tape, and place your bottle punched cardstock on top. Third, turn it over, and fill with sequins. Fourth, use a Stitched Rectangles Die to cut cardstock, identical in size, remove the tape, and place to cover the bottle with sequins, being careful to match the edges. You can now glue it to your card front, or raise it on Dimensionals, as I did for this card.

One more photo, so you can see the pretty sequins. $15.00 may seem a lot to pay for sequins, but they are gorgeous, and you get a huge quantity in three color groups. (page 141 in the catalog).

I was inspired by the Paper Players, and this is pink champagne.

Summer Shadows for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the theme is “CASE the Catalog” so the Design Team chose a card from the new Annual Catalog and has CASEd it with their own creative twist. We really hope that you are inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

After looking at all of the fabulous samples in the new Annual Catalog, I chose one I wish I had designed. I didn’t deviate much from the original, because I love it “as is,” which you can see on page 103.

By Su Mohr for the Pals Blog Hop; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set, Summer Shadows Dies, Happiness Abounds Stamp Set, Deckled Rectangles Dies; #summershadows #happinessabounds #watercolorshapes #stampinblends #caseing #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stampinup #stamping #sumohr #aromasandart.com #2022-2023annualcatalog #cardtechniques #cardinstruction #bloghops

A “case” of Summer Shadows

The background is the first thing that caught my eye, and I re-created it with Watercolor Shapes stamped in Pool Party Ink on Basic White Cardstock. After making a few circles with two sizes of round stamps, I used the largest Deckled Rectangles Die for cutting. This layer was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Next, I used eight Summer Shadows Dies to cut the leaves and flowers from Shimmery White Cardstock. I believe these were watercolored in the sample, but I used Stampin’ Blends in eight colors: Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Mint Macaron, Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral, and Petal Pink. After coloring, I glued the parts together, and attached them to the card front.

The heat embossed sentiment is from the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set. “Best wishes” was stamped in VersaMark on Thick Basic White Cardstock, sprinkled with Gold Embossing Powder, and set with the Heat Tool. After cutting with a Potted Succulents Die, I attached the sentiment with Dimensionals.

Finally, I added gold Metallic Dots (retired), but the current, Rustic Metallic Dots would work, shown in my Product List below.

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on July 13th. Our theme will be “Create Your Own Background” when our Design Team creates a background using any technique they wish, such as stencils, stamping, watercolor, embossing but not DSP.

Until then, have fun in your craft space!

Paper Piecing with Awash In Beauty Trellis

Are you ready for more “paper piecing? Today’s card uses this technique to create a diamond pattern “inside” the trellis. I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I used an Organic Beauty Die to cut the trellis From Thick Basic White Cardstock, and glued it to the card base.

By Su Mohr; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Awash In Beauty DSP, Charming Sentiments Stamp Set, Sentiment Silhouettes Dies, True Beauty Stamp Set, Organic Beauty Dies; #awashinbeauty #charmingsentiments #organicbeauty #trellis #takeyourpic #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #paperpiecing #cardtechniques #cardinstruction #sumohr #aromasandart.com #stamping #stampinup #thankyoucards

“Paper Pieced” Trellis

Next, I cut a section of flowers from Awash In Beauty Designer Paper, approximately 4 1/2″ X 3 1/2″. Then, I ran this though the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine with the same trellis die. I was careful to leave the pieces intact, so they would stay in order.

After completing the flowers, I was able to fill in a few diamond shaped spaces with Basic White Cardstock to make a large diamond in the center of the card front. The Take Your Pick Tool was extremely helpful in picking up the small diamond pieces, which is pictured in my Product List below.

“Thank you” is from the Charming Sentiments Stamp Set, stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink, and cut with its Sentiment Silhouettes Die that comes in the bundle. I love this bundle!

After attaching “thank you” with Dimensionals, I added three Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels, my host code gift for the month of June. See details below.

Nature’s Prints for Global Design Project 346

Welcome to our first Global Design Project in June, where we have a fun sketch challenge.

The flower I used for this week’s project is from the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set, which I stamped in a rainbow of colors. From top to bottom, the ink colors are: Highland Heather, Coastal Cabana, Mint Macaron, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, and Calypso Coral.

The splotch beneath the flowers, also a Nature’s Prints stamp, was “stamped-off”  in four of the colors. “Stamped-off” means I stamped on scratch paper, before stamping on my project, to make the color lighter.

Nature’s Prints Rainbow Flowers

After stamping the pretty flower in six colors, I used its Natural Prints Die for cutting.

The background is Basic White Cardstock,  3 1/2″ X 5 1/4″, with a side strip of Perfectly Penciled Designer Paper, 1/2″ X 5 1/4″. These were glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “Hello there” is from the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set, stamped in Stazon Black Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, and cut with a Painted Labels Die. I attached the sentiment with Dimensionals, along with the flowers. However, the stems are glued flat up to the blossoms.

Here is the sketch. Isn’t it inspiring? Please create a card, and hang it in our gallery.
